Well it has at least meant that the 1.2Gig of WU's that were stuck on the dead rigs HDD will now get done. :p
Its nowt special just a MB and PSU replacement so output will only go back to what it was or just a bit higher as its allowing a better overclock without any in depth tweeking so if i can be bothered i may be able to push the CPU a bit more.

GPU crunching people - any idea on points per day per watt?

I understand that GPUs consume quite a bit more power than CPUs, but it may be that they use say twice as much power for eight times the points or something.
 
My MSI 460 cyclone cards(three in one box) are getting about 17kppd each and are rated at 160W so thats 106.2ppd/w.

My older G92 cards are getting about 7.5/8kppd at 130W(ish) so thats 60ppd/w kind of area.

None of my other cards have yet reached a steady peak so difficult to tell if the newer cards are much better.
 
Thanks very much Ba, it's just as I thought. I have normal wus (not AP) making about 1922 ppd on an E7200 pulling 78 W according to this, which makes 24.6 ppd/W. Your 460s are 2 or 3 times more "points per power" efficient.

I'm very interested to see how the new cards fare :)
 
Well it still tough to snag work at the minute have had a handfull in the last few days think i might power down untill whatever the problem is comes right.

Quick question for all , whats the best anyone has got from a GTX260 on seti?

I keep reading that 15K+ is possible, thats what my 460's are doing.:confused:

Not sure i can quite remember but i think i averaged 11-12 on mine, would have thought a little bit more than 15 on the 460 :)
 
Only got one rig with any work :(

Missed out on two 580's today on ebay £220 each, foolishly put an offer in of £200 by the time i got refused they had both gone:mad:

Looked at our primegrid team today, not top anymore Area51 has popped to the top, has he returned?

Ouch! Very nearly a cracking purchase sah. No Mr Area51 is still with the gpu users group but does keep "an eye on us" from afar :)

Have done a back up and reinstalled boinc incase something was amiss with my machine but apart from 240 vlar yesterday it flat out refuses to download any new work, oh well will keep plugging away and hope it comes right eventually :)
