Setting up a raid0

Could anyone give me a quick run through of how to setup a raid on a from scratch please? I'll be trying to setup a raid0 for 2 x 500gb F3s and was after some advice on how to do it.

Is it just simply a case of connecting them both to the mobo SATA controllers and then banging whichever key it asks to setup a RAID as the PC loads?

The OS is Windows 7 and the motherboard will be the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) if that makes a difference.

stick raid drivers on usb stick
Install hdds
Go into bios and set up raid- set sata controller to raid
On boot up it should ask you to configure raid array
Boot from install cd and hit f6 to load raid drivers from usb drive
Run through setup

Think thats roughly that

Sorry for hijacking the thread.
But where do you get raid drivers from? (Stupid question, IM sure)
Secondly, how do you set-up RAID0 when your going to keep a current HDD for OS (i.e. OS on non-raid hdd, and then raid0 for game files)

Ok i think i've got the whole thing sussed out now. Just to confirm the driver i would need is the SATA driver which i would get from the motherboard manufacturer website (link) and stick that on any only usb stick which will be boot prio after configuring the boot order in the bios.

Can i just confirm that the raid driver required is an exe file? Seems to me like it should be something else.

raid drivers should be on mobo site.
You will need to extract them to the usb pen
Boot from win 7 disc then install raid driver when prompted

I diden't need any drivers on my setup with win 7 not exactly same board mind worth a go anyways

ok cheers guys, i'm getting mixed reports on if i need raid drivers with win7 or not. Some people are saying their raids aren't detected but these posts are far and few. I'll keep the drivers on usb as backup just in case and if that goes **** up i'll just install them as seperate and use the win7 software approach.

The pc should be coming tomorrow so i'll update this after i build it over the weekend.

If it's a slightly older RAID controller then Win 7 is likely to have suitable RAID drivers, newer ones may not.
