Hi,

Ok I have 2 36gb SCSI drives that I want to RAID and install windows on for my fileserver. They are both run off a dual p3 motherboard as it has 2 SCSI connections, I have used one cable to plug both drives into one connection is this correct?

Also is it possible to raid scsi drives, if yes how do i do it? I know when u setup windows u can press f6 and setup raid is this how i do it for SCSI?

Sorry never worked with SCSI drives before so a noob in this area, all help is greatly appreciated.

First thing to check is if your on board SCSI controller supports RAID which is pretty unlikely (RAID for free is very much a SATA thing).

RAID with SCSI is very possible (if the hardware supports it), in fact I'd guess that 90+% of the world's SCSI drives are currently running in some form of RAID. The F6 bit of the Windows install does not setup any form of RAID, all it does is allows you to add drivers for storage controllers which are not natively supported by the install - with SCSI you quite often have to go through this process even for a single drive.

If your controller does support RAID you'll need to setup the array before you go anywhere, either through the SCSI controller's own BIOS or, more likely, by booting from the controllers config CD. Once that's done you can crack on with installing Windows.
