Sexual orientation on application forms?

They have these so that they can assess that they are getting all available candidates for the job applying. For example: If they never got anyone applying for a job that was black or a woman. They could look at thier recruitment methods and the way they come across as a company to ensure there is nothing they are doing that could be putting people off. The same applies to sexual orientation.

Some people will of course see it as a conspiracy to positively descriminate. Thats not the case though (welll certainly for where I work), it's just there to ensure you aren't missing out on any groups of people.

I think that is one where you are meant to tick "prefer not to answer", that is to say, the potential employer would prefer you not to answer.
