Streacom F7C Silver Home Theatre Aluminium Chassis is the case one i am looking at now.

Got to decide on what to put in it now. Did have a CPU but brother has 'borrowed' that now!!

Need help with the spec. Needs to be cheap but have 4gig ram, min dual core CPU, prob 160w Pico. Got a 2.5 HDD already. Got an OS.

What mobo and CPU would you guys recommend? I will also need a low Heatsink and fan too.

Seen that build. Nice spec but wouldnt the i3 system be a better move? Also, a low profile, 'silent' fan would be a good option as the fanless case is quite a bit more than the standard case?

You are correct. the i3 and 'silent' fan woul be better for you. If you don't mind the 'slight' noise.

Right, decided to go ahead and build a small itx system.

Spec:

The Streacom F7C (non-fanless) Silver
Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz
Asus P8H61-I Intel H61 (Socket 1155)
4gig DDR3 Ram
250gig 2.5 Sata Hard drive
160w Pico PSU and power brick

I need a suitable DVDWriter to fit properly and also a low profile Heatsink and fan that will be both quiet and efficient. Any advice on those 2?

Also, will my above spec me a good combination of nice PC speed, low power outage and silent system?

I wont be doing much if any gaming. It will be used for general PC stuff and photo manipulation.

Thanks

The i3-2120 has a very low idle power consumption which is perfect, It is also fairly decent at running adobe apps. I used them in builds for work and we mainly just use internet browsers and office apps but I do some photoshop and premier pro work and it copes well enough even on 4GB of RAM.

The HD2000 graphics chip will also play games like Left4Dead 2 on low settings at a decent fps if you did want to game a little.

Go with the CPU cooler than Doomedspeed recommended It's low profile and very quiet.
As for an OOD you need:
Slim slot loading drive, left side eject button

So you'll be needing something like a Sony BC 5600S/5640. (BluRay) or Sony Ad 7640S (DVD)

What CPU cooler did you get in the end OP and what is the cooling and noise performance from it?

The one recommended in this thread looks like it may not fit if you also fit a 3.5" HDD in.

Right guys.

Going to order later. Is this spec ok? I will be using it for Photoshop mainly and general pc stuff but no game:

Spec:

The Streacom F7C (non-fanless) Silver
Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz
Asus P8H61-I Intel H61 (Socket 1155)
Scythe Shuriken CPU Cooler Rev.B
8gig DDR3 Ram
60Gig SSD hard drive
160w Pico PSU and power brick
Win 7 OS
external DVDRW

You could wait to see what this week has in store, as the i3 Ivy Bridge CPUs are rumoured to be released this week.

If your cool, then that spec looks good. If you haven't maxed out your budget I'd look at grabbing a bigger SSD. 120GB drives aren't that much more than a 60GB and Adobe programs can take up quite a bit of room. My CS5 install is 10GB :(
