shadow and bone fantasy series [Netflix]

It was ok, I liked the story arcs not focusing on Alina/Mal (who I think are the weakest characters in the show), and the final episode was pretty cool, but I do struggle a bit with the whiny Mary Sue aspect of it.

Jasper is great. :D

Between the 2 books (Shadow & Bone / Six of Crows), Six of Crows is a much stronger book of the 2. Shadow and Bone is purely from the perspective of Alina, so if you imagine if the series was written that way, it would be rather boring.

(i have not read the books, this is taken from a book review that i saw)

Shadow and Bone is the first book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy. In the Shadow & Bone TV series, the stories of Alina, Mal, and Alexander mostly follow this book, with a few changes. In the book, Mal isn't the nice guy he is in the show. He's actually quite abusive. And Alexander gets a bit... rapey.

Six of Crows and its sequel take place some time after Shadow & Bone. The Shadow & Bone TV series has original material to bring the Crows in to the Shadow & Bone storyline, and also tells Nina's story as it happens (as opposed to flashbacks in the books).

I've only just started Six of Crows. I know most people who have read both consider it the better story. But then, Shadow & Bone was the author's first book, so that's not necessarily a huge surprise.

If Shadow & Bone is a success, I bet they follow it up with a Six of Crows TV show. The Crows seem to be the more popular characters from the show anyway.

Finished watching this with a friend, I loved the setting and the costumes, sets etc were all great. Enjoyed most of the characters.

The last episode wasn't quite as good as the rest of the series and the Matthias/Nina storyline seemed utterly pointless. Not to mention it was stupid as hell, he literally kidnapped her to take her to be executed and a few scenes later it was all giggles, tickling and naked cuddling. It just seemed dumb writing and entirely superfluous to the story.

To stand a fighting chance against General Kirigan and his seemingly indestructible new army, Alina Starkov and Mal Oretsev rally their own powerful new allies and begin a continent-spanning journey to find two mythical creatures that will amplify her powers. Back in Ketterdam, a chance at a deadly heist sends the Crows once again on a collision course with the legendary Sun Summoner. Shadow and Bone Season 2 premieres March 16, 2023 only on Netflix.

Its been a while, definitely need to watch a recap. I did really enjoy season 1.

Trailer looks amazing. Absolutely loved this. Its exactly the sort of TV show I like and it was done well. Was my favourite show of 2021 along with arcane.

Cannot wait.

Only 3 eps in so far but much like the first series I’m more interested the Crows story than Alina’s.

The crows story was the best bit of episodes 1 and 2 by far but gets a bit boring after that, though there is some decent stuff in the second half of episode 6.

Finished s2 last night, took everything from the first that was good and expanded on it, hopefully it gets a s3.

I'm guessing Alina used merzgot(SP?) to bring him back? If she did I wonder what the cost will be in s3.
