Shadowrun Returns - Kickstarter Thread

Just got to the final boss (I think), what a pain in the arse it is! The adds are endless. Over the last hour or two, the story line has gone from gripping and really involving, to an absolute slog and borefest TBH.

Ignore the adds, just kill the 'main protagonist'. If you have an assault rifle, go full auto on the flashing tentacle thingy, that'll hurt everything when it dies. You can clear the adds afterwards (mage spells can be used to stun the swines while you focus the baddy.

Thank you very much Sir! Completed it now, really enjoyed that game and looking forward to the DLC!

Excellent, glad you sorted it! I'm on my third playthrough lol, it brings back so many memories of the SNES version I played as a kid, and despite it's faults I think it's really well done & more than worth the £15.

Looking forward to some user generated maps too :)

I'm late to the party on this and am loving it :) It's a little linear, and there's not as much item gathering and stat fiddling as I want from an isometric rpg, but it just looks so nice and polished and the story has me by the nuts. Great setting, quality writing. Good stuff.

Just seen the trailer for the second official episode - Dragonfall. Bad news is it's been delayed again, but only until the end of next month.

Looking very good! Although, it is currently £11.99 on Steam :O Nearly the same price as the game! Will still probably pick it up though, loved the first campaign.

Anyone playing Dragonfall then?...didn't really like the base game, but it looks improved.

Edit- Just started it myself. Much better so far.

This is what the game should have been to start with!

Enjoying it much more than Dead Man's Switch. It still isn't as interactive as I would like, but it seems a lot less linear.

Gotta say I am really loving Dragonfall. I can't believe how much it has improved over Dead Man's Switch!...the story and writing is really excellent. The game is still a little too basic, but getting better.

Keep this up, and by the 4th or 5th expansion we could have a really great game on our hands!

Yeah the expansion is a definite improvement, and new players should start with the Dragonfall expansion rather than starting with the base game.

+1 should definitely start with Dragonfall!

I'm probably gonna try one of the fan-made campaigns after this. I tried one not long after release, but as you can imagine, it wasn't up to much as they were still getting to grips with it.

Does the expansion improve the base game too? Will the skills/tweaks be present if I start from the beginning?

Not so far as I can tell, but then I haven't played Dead Man's Switch since starting the expansion. The game is practically the same. The difference in the depth of the story and choices etc. More side quests, choosing what order to do them in, more to explore etc. There aren't any changes to the mechanics.

Bloodlines is a pretty cool mission, and the writing has remained absolute top-quality all through...can't stop playing it, even though I really want to start South Park tonight!

PS. The decking is still poor though, but at least it is more optional now

Just completed Dragonfall. Totally engrossed, and now I can't wait to see the next installment!

Excellent writing and characters all the way through, and some really good battles as well.
