Hey y`all,

Ive been getting a fair bit of shaving rash under my chin recntly, makes me look like a bloody school boy.
Anyone know of any decent shaveing gels or such to help combat this?

I currently use a Mach 3 whatever the green wiggly one is called and King of Shaves gel.

Some aloe vera moisturiser? That will sooth it. Shaving rash can be a pain! I had som shaving oil from botanics once that really did the trick, gave a nice clean shave without any rash!
Try and get some shaving gel for extra sensitive skin though, that should also help :)

The best and cheapest way to avoid shaving rash is like this.

STEP 1: buy a pack of 10 desposible razors.
STEP 2: Shave once every 5 weeks

Result, you shave only 10 times a year so you dont get shavers rash every second day and you save money on shaving gel+razors :p

Fancy razor is no substitute for um heap good technique. (Sitting Bull)

Don't shave against the direction of the hair growth is the best tip to aviod rash.Do try a cheap disposable razor as they do not cut as close and so stop rash.

If you shave with the grain it doesnt cut very good at all i find :(
The problem with disposables not cutting close enough means more strokes to get it which means more irritation
Im going to go electric soon :D

Wash face, lather up with foam, shave with the grain. Rinse face, lather up shave against the grain. Rinse face and dry then apply non alcohol based aftershave. Voila, close shave and no rash, always worked for me.

Mustard'll clear that up no problem!
That's a common misconception, but understandable.

The active enzyme, particularly in English mustard, can often excacerbate rash-like symptoms when attempting depilation.

Horseradish contains an amino acid with natural anti-inflamatory properties, and has a mild, yet eventually permanent, depilatory effect.

This man speaks the truth. Only shave with the direction of hair growth, which in most cases is down. This is especially important on the neck I find. Use plenty of shaving cream and hot water, take short strokes and rinse the blade frequently. Then you should be fine.

Try washing your face with reallh hot water & a flannel. Softens up the hair nicely & should alleviate the rash a little.

I'm the same as you, if I shave with the grain, it looks like I need a shave still!

My OH swears by shaving in the shower. Says the steam opens his pores and stops him getting horrendous shaving rash all down his neck. Either that or he does it just after he gets out and looks like he's auditioning for 'stars in their eyes' with all the steam around him :)
