Shaveing rash :-/

Hot water.

Use it to heat and wash the blade, and use it to wet your face and open your pores somewhat. Makes shaving ten times less painful.

If having a wet shave causes a rash, why not just switch to an electric razor?
Alright, its not as close a shave but at least you don't look silly with a rash face ;)

Has anyone else noticed this thread is well over a year old? I hope he's over his shaving issues by now.

Ditto, have to either shave every two days or not go for a completely clean shave. Either way I look scruffy :(

Better getting a beard trimmer and using it without the guard on. Keeps a bit stubble there so doesn't irritate the skin and still looks smart and tidy imo.

My OH swears by shaving in the shower. Says the steam opens his pores and stops him getting horrendous shaving rash all down his neck... :)

Yea, I always shave in the shower, after washing.

Also get some good products, I use Vitru stuff and its great.
The face wash and the scrub soften up the hair. The 'comfort shave' cream is excellent, I never want to use a foam or oil again (using the shaving cream made the biggest difference to me). I apply a skin cream post shave, altogether it eliminates my shaving rash, plus having a sharp razor helps, blunt or worn blades are terrible for causing rash.

I have very sensitive skin so i share your pain.

what i do

Fill up sink with warm (not boiling) soap-ey water
wash face with soap
put on shaving gel (i use gillette fusion "hydra gel" stuff)
shave in single strokes, between each one rinsing the razor in the warm soap-ey water
finish. wash again, moisturise (with moisturiser NOT after shave)

and that does the job.

also i change the blades on my mach regularly so i dont need to apply much pressure or do more then one stroke. hence reducing irritation.

Wow, wondered what the hell my age old thread was doing back here.

For anyone interested, I solved my shaveing rash by switching to DE razor shaving (brush, soap etc).

Just what I was going to recommend sorted mine out a treat

i used to suffer with bad shaving rash but has calmed down a lot recently.

I use Gillette M3 razor, L'oreal men expert shaving gel and then clinique post shave healer after shaving. The clinique seems expensive but i use 2 bottles in a year and is very very good!
