Sheffield Arena - Little Mix. Seating plan worry!

I really wish people wouldn't buy tickets from second hand markets :(

Ritchie Blackmore tickets are going for £800 plus and my mate who has followed him from the early days failed to get one. He even has around 6 Blackmore guitars and can play in his style.
Two weeks ago I started a thread on Facebook asking that if any of my friends had got tickets and were taking somebody with them who didn't really want to go then get in touch.
On that night somebody turned up at our gig with a ticket for face value.
And people laugh at Facebook.

Sorry, but just don't go. The longer people support these scumbags the longer they'll stick around. If I had a pound for every time I've tried to get tickets for something, only to miss out and then see them in eBay 20mins later. It's hideous. Its outlawed for football, it should be for everything.

Whilst i agree with you, unfortunately this isn't the reality we live in - i have the sellers name on the tickets and a quick internet trawl shows he has been doing this for years. Judging by his holiday snaps, he is making good money too.

Like i say, our family have never been to a concert because any concert we wanted was either sold out or the only seats left were the ones no-one wanted. Therefore as we have the cash, i don't want my daughter to miss out.

Supply and demand unfortunately - obviously the artists don't give a toss or they would be doing something to stop the touting.

I won't derail the thread, but what if they ask for id that matches the tickets? That's something I've always thought should be done as an easy step to stop reselling.

tbh some artists won't care. They have filled the venue, got their cash - if anyone makes any money on top of that? Not their concern. Didn't Adele make a big show of ensuring her fans got tickets? They still ended up on the 'bay for thousands.

Like i say, my wife and daughter are going, but the tickets have a guys name on them - if challenged they could just say, boyfriend bought them etc etc etc, what is security guard going to do except build up queues and delay entrance for people? As long as they have tickets they are just feed in like sheep. No point causing issues once people are already there.

They should be able to stop this at source ie stop the touts getting the tickets in the first place.

4 tickets max then have to join the virtual queue from beginning etc? - no idea!

When Led Zeppelin did the one off at the 02 in 2007 it would have been easier to have stolen the Crown Jewels than get into that concert with a ticket not assigned to you.
All fans had to turn up the day before for checks and then on the day which caused a lot of hassle for some people with the extra expense of staying overnight in London.

Personally I think it should be mandatory to have to show ID with the tickets. It's the only reasonable way to stamp it out.

Any ideas how this could be done?
If tickets are bought with a Card then the ticket could have the first four and last four numbers printed on it and you have to turn up with the Card.
Ticket prices would go up though.

Totally agreed. I remember the days when tickets for Leeds festival would take weeks to sell out, now they are all on eBay within minutes of release. Ticket touting really is a rubbish thing that to me could be easily beaten.

but not without extra cost - and that's why it won't get any better anytime soon.
Rage Against The Machine made people upload a photo to match their ticket when they played Finsbury Park. And that was a free gig.

I don't see why all tickets just have to have a name on, and people coming in have to match it with ID. People won't bother getting fake IDs and risking it, therefore no-one will be buy from the touts. The market will die.

Better still, all second-hand ticket sales should be made illegal. Totally. If you buy tickets and can't go then you can return your ticket and get your money back. Maybe minus an admin fee or something if necessary.

that should be up to the artist whether they want the tickets to be transferable or not - they could chose to enforce it via requiring an valid form of ID matching the name on the ticket... if people want to cancel a ticket because they can't come then the should just have a return option via the venue and a the tickets then allocated to a waiting list.

Tickets could have the purchasers name printed on them. Photo ID could then be required on the door to match the name.

You're right. but then you have:

a. Extra software costs.

b. New policies/costs regarding data protection holding.

c. Extra messing about for customers.

d. Extra concern from people who do not want their photos of themselves or their children held by unknowns.

All of the above will either incur costs for the ticket sellers/entertainers or in some way may deter ticket buyers. None of which would be acceptable when money making is involved.

The likes of Adele, Rage, Led Z, etc may be able to put high end security on their tickets - they have the huge dedicated fan base, Little Mix etc do not.
