Shell V-Power

i've generally used v-power over anything else in my various cars. can't say i notice any difference over any other super unleaded fuels but i believe running anything jap + turbo means you need to use 97+ ron anyway.

apparently a shortage of V power in the UK atm anyway.

my nearest Shell garages are all bar one pump out of it atm :(

Any idea if Stourbridge has any? I gotta go to Dudley Monday/Tuesday.

The only one I know of in Stourbridge is the Oldswinford one and that has none as I drove past tonight. There is a Tescos that sells T99 in Dudley though.

Yep I had to fill up on tesco 99 as I can't find v power anywhere. The tesco stuff seems just as good though to be honest (on my vrs mapped for v power...)

Wasnt there a test on tv somewhere regarding normal petrol vs vpower etc? I'm sure they said theres pretty much no difference.

would my Civic Type R benefit from this stuff?

If I remember correctly Shells 'V-POWER' was the only one that made significant improvements to performance.
The other fuel companies that do performance enhancing petrol did make a difference but not as great as the V-Power.

It depends on the car, mapping etc. You couldn't just make one generic statement like that.

Give it a try for 3-4 tanks and see if you notice any difference, if not go back to standard :)

Had to put a tank of 95 into my ST last week as I couldn't find any V-Power and no Tescos close enough.

Full light is back on now so hoping my local has had a delivery.

My absolutely no difference on my old EP3 Civic Type R, unless you have a JDM version I wouldn't bother.

Nearest thing to me is BP ultimate, no Shell garage for miles. I ran a few tanks of Ultimate through the MX-5 and it seems to be running much nicer since when I bought it. Just use normal BP now and and it's staying the same.

I have to travel 5 miles out of my way to get an higher octane fuel bar Texaco which I'm not really bothered about. There is a BP station close to work, but they don't sell ultimate anyway. I hope this changes, there are a few people round here running mapped cars who need higher octane stuff and have to go out of their way to get it. I hope I'll be in that position soon too.

I've started running V-Power the last 2 tanks, I must admit the car does seem a little smoother and quieter although I'm not sure that's what I want, I want more burble like an American V8 :p ...I haven't noticed any power gains really, I don't think it feels any more responsive either really, if it is it's a tiny amount.

I am however getting more mpg now, gone up by 2mpg on average, which I can't argue with.

I have to travel a bit further to get to a Shell garage than a BP one but Ultimate is quite a bit more expensive than V-Power, or it was last time I checked and widely regarded as not being as good.
