Shell V-Power

Seems a bit silly, considering it is nothing special yet BP consistently charge at least 3p more than any other garages.

It's not a case of favouring BP in this case, it's my local garage that I have always used, including when it used to be Shell, and they don't really charge more than everyone else around here except Morrisons, there is a Total garage that charges more and is further away, there are 2 other BP ones fairly close, the furthest one is cheaper though and there is a Morrisons one that is slightly cheaper but always has a massive queue in it.

The reason I have only used BP is because I'm a bit funny about things like that I guess, like I always like my airvents set in a certain way, and do many other things in precise orders and in certain ways etc. I probably have mild OCD or something, although I have never been tested for it, I do, do quite a few things that indicate that I might :p ...but I'm not bad at all, I can control it no problem, I just feel happier if I do things the way I have set in my mind.

Ive started using VPowah exclusively in my 13 yr old CBR6...it makes a big enough difference to warrant using it - engine runs smoother at idle and under load, defo get more MPG and I do notice the pickup is quicker and more power through the revs/gears.
Next stop new chain and sprockets, going 1 tooth down on the front!

Nutter :P

I felt the same, revs much smoother and quicker.

Anyways, I'm off to do my chain as it's bone dry, covered in nice brake dust and generally looks bad, only did it last weekend :(

Might start using it on my bike. Big twins are thirsty but getting more than 100 miles until the fuel light would be nice! :p .

I've never put anything but V Power in the current car. I can't say if it makes much difference seeing as I haven't ran it on "normal" unleaded for more than a few miles.

I hear mostly positives from others who use it, so I'm not about to stop...

I'm expecting a news release from Shell on V-Power soon, as I have been experiencing an increase in power output on "EVERY" car I've been mapping lately that's been filled with the stuff.
Definite improvement over ALL other fuels I've tested on turbo cars that I map.
I'm not talking 5-6 BHP either.
Consistent 10-15bhp above what I would normally expect to see.

In all honesty, my scoob does feel like it's pulling stupidly hard at the moment. Could be the cold though..

If V-Power is getting better, then great, as I'm due a remap soon!

it does make a difference in my focus ST but you have to run about 3 tanks before it adjusts to it properly, I have a vpower points card but havent filled up for months with vpower, need to fill up on friday so think i might treat the beast!

Bike magazine recently ran a comparative test and dyno runs to prove than unless the engine is mapped to make use of higher RON fuel there are no power benefits in using them, I would imagine that this is the same for MPG claims. Having said that I personally try to use V-Power every other fill-up becase it contains additives that helps clean the fuel system and valves etc.

God you had to say you own an iPhone you couldn't simply say phone.......................................

Nice phone, whats the retail on one of those?

Who's your mapper? I'm pretty sure everyone normally says V-Power is best.

Paul Blamire. The issue is that V-Power goes off much more quickly. If you get new stuff it's great, but if it has been in the garage tank for four weeks, it has dropped its octane rating. Tesco 99 RON either turns over faster, or lasts better. Either way, the octane rating is much more likely to be what is intended. The best V-Power is probably a little better than the best 99 RON, but the average probably works the other way around.

Tesco store naff all 99 ron fuel as i have found out working in the garage at the store i work in recently, so probably gets refreshed more often so probably does get new supplies in often. Never normally have more than 10% of one of the tanks full
