Sherlock - Series 2 - BBC

I heard a rumour that the true way he faked his death will be revealed in the final episode of the series.
I did think that even the last explanation, when Sherlock and John were on the train, was still another 'way' it could have happened and not the definitive answer.

Also am I the only one that didn't think derren Brown looked normal? I knew it was him by his voice and what he did but I thought it was a completely different actor?
I didn't even know it was Derren Brown until afterwards when I saw someone post in this thread. :D

I didn't even clock it was Derren Brown :o
Phew! Not just me then. :o

I clocked it was Derren Brown and was definitely feeling confused and bewildered, relief when Lestrade cut in.

I really hope the next two episodes aren't going to continue to address all 13 possible ways it could have been done. I feel I will it will drive me to show him how he should've done it.

It's not important how he faked his death. He's clever enough to have done it one way or another and fooled everyone. That much is clear, given that... he successfully fooled everyone for two years. Sherlock, were he to exist, would be smarter than any of us, so none of us can really say one way or another whether any of the given methods is "clever" enough (well, apart from the Derren Brown bit, maybe!), and anything else is just us dismissing something after the fact. "Oh, he did it with massive air cushion? That's not nearly clever enough for me."

I don't understand the beginning. He was running from those Serbs and they caught him, and then when Mycroft said he must escape he just escapes no problem, and it didn't even show how he escaped. I thought that was poor.

I don't like the portrayal of Watson either. In the previous season most of the time he was complaining and saying how much he hated Sherlock, and suddenly at the end he was crying about him, and in this season he acts like he was his brother or something. I think they didn't write him as well as they could have, he's not like that in the original stories.

Why could he not have hinted to Watson that he was alive? Did he think Moriarty's crime gang would be watching him?

that's what i thought wasnt 100% clear. The immediate threats on his friends had been dealt with even faking his death for 2 years to undermine the remenants or M's network (as i understood it) Why not tell him ?? :p

I did get the feeling that Holmes was more friendly and approachable in this new series. More jokes, more smiles... it's just not right if you ask me.

I thought that was a rather weak and confusing episode. Glad to see it back and I'm sure that the next two episodes will get better.

At least it wasn't the version at the beginning, I actually raged until I realised it was a theory/joke :o

I was a bit "errr, what?" with it all, right up until he smashed through the window and kissed Molly. That gave it away as it was very out of character for Sherlock.

Can't wait for more! A Christmas of appalling TV saved.

Hmmm a mixed bag in my opinion that episode. The whole talking to the audience through the conspiracy bloke was masterful - I hope they leave the 'howhedoneit' like that where basically whatever is the reality is always going to feel a disappointment once its known. The only thing I didnt like was how many people appeared to know he was still alive in the interim...

Not a fan of the overuse of the whole closed eyes thing (the bit where hes finding the face of the no 1 rat is just stupid in hindsight), was done way too often and Im annoyed the mind palace wasnt as well portrayed as it was in the Hounds episode. John Watsons character wasnt as strong as hes been in the past (seemed practically superfluous), they better get that fixed and his missus-to-be should throw up a surprise Id guess...

Glad to see who the bad guy is - should be rather challenging and just as sadistic as Moriarty - just a shame we wont see more of Andrew Scott who pretty much stole the show everytime he was on camera!

As someone said a poor Sherlock is still rather good - though anyone think Sherlock appeared too normal/personable? Felt like hes less Sheldon-like (but so does Sheldon nowadays :()...

ps3ud0

I believe that was partially the point, Sherlock realising that people are people and can be treated as such, and how indeed, people are sometimes necessary. Where-as Mycroft still hasn't understood that.
The missus-to-be must throw something up, as she already said to Sherlock '...then I realised it was a skip code.' Well obviously, but I don't generally look for them if I get a spam text.

Wasn't that impressed with this episode tbh. Skipped about quite a lot and the conclusion was pretty meh. Seemed like a lot of story initiation without any decent story to hold itself up as a standalone episode, which I think the previous seasons did well.

A bit self indulgent. Getting stabbed in the gut but not feeling it at all? I don't care how tight the belt is that's surely go to be BS, especially with sitting down standing up etc etc, they'd be blood everywhere. Also, getting half the met dispatched to Baker street with no consequence?
