Shevchenko to leave...?!?

Shev "untouchable", insist Milan
Milan have told Chelsea to forget about signing Andriy Shevchenko. “We will never sell him,” say the Italian club.

The Ukrainian has been strongly linked with a Stamford Bridge switch after admitting that he was considering a future outside of Italy.

But the Rossoneri are set to block his exit as the club’s director general confirmed on Friday afternoon.

“The situation remains the same,” stated Ariedo Braida. “Milan won’t sell Shevchenko, we will never sell him.”

Braida’s comments mirror those of chief Adriano Galliani who stated on Wednesday that the international striker was untouchable.

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has also not given up hope of keeping their star man. “It is our aim to keep him,” he said in Naples this morning.

However, the player’s agent has seemed to confirm that negotiations over a move to the Premiership are already underway.

“Shevchenko is dealing directly with [Chelsea owner Roman] Abramovich,” Oscar Damiani told PA Sport.

Shevchenko has just enjoyed another prolific campaign at the San Siro after netting 19 goals in 28 games.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has conceded that Milan are the only ones who will decide Shevchenko’s future.

“We would like to bring Shevchenko here, but he's a Milan player and he has a long-term contract with them,” said the Blues' boss.

"Milan have the power, like we have the power with [Didier] Drogba and my feeling is that they don't want to sell and they will keep him.

"I like the player and I would like to have him - but a lot of clubs want Drogba and they can't have him."

Unhappy Drogba eyes exit
Didier Drogba has shocked Chelsea by revealing that he wants to leave the Premiership champions.

The Ivory Coast international insists the aspersions cast at him this season are behind his decision to want to leave Stamford Bridge.

A number of incidents have led some to label Drogba a 'diver' and the 28-year-old claims he no longer enjoys plying his trade in The Premiership.

The 24 million pound signing from Marseille believes the constant scrutiny has had a negative impact on his performances and has now revealed his preference for a move to Serie A giants Milan.

"It's not a joke. I want to move on and avoid all the pressure and scandals here," he told The Sun.

"Those things hurt my feelings. I want a place I can play freely without any drawbacks.

"You should know what a player goes through with so much pressure."

Lyon have already confirmed their admiration of the player and Drogba has said he will only move to a club who can offer him UEFA Champions League football, with Italy a possible destination.

"I admire AC Milan. But anywhere I go, the Champions League will be there waiting for me," added Drogba.

Please no. Not Drogba. Send him to Lyon!

Sheva has been offered a new contract, like the one he asked for before this entire debackle started. Balls in his court now.

Drogba wanting to go to Milan made me laugh. Sheva saying he wanted to leave last week looks to have been a ploy to Milan to offer him a better deal

He hasnt signed the contract yet.

But if he does, its like i originally said, he's playing hard ball to get his contract.

Hope he stays myself. Sheva is more than just a goal scorer at Milan.
For example, hypothetically, Henry would probably score as many as Sheva does per season, but its about more than goals.
He's a 'figure' for the rest of the team, especially in Maldini's absence.

Milan offers contract extension to Sheva

MILAN, Italy (AP) - AC Milan on Friday offered Andriy Shevchenko a two-year contract extension through to 2011 to head off interest from English champion Chelsea.

The Ukraine striker, a longtime Chelsea target, said recently he may leave Milan having spent seven years with the club. However, Milan officials noted he had not formally requested a transfer.

Shevchenko, who has scored 173 goals for Milan since transferring from Dynamo Kiev in 1999, was expected to make a final decision next week on his return from holidays.

He looked close to tears after Milan's last league match against AS Roma on Sunday as he mixed with fans at the San Siro who asked him not to leave.

Shevchenko didn't play due to a left knee injury, but he should be fit for the June 9-July 9 World Cup.

Shevchenko decision due in a week
Andriy Shevchenko
Shevchenko has scored 19 goals in Serie A this season
Andriy Shevchenko will decide next week whether he will stay at AC Milan or move to Premiership champions Chelsea.

The 29-year-old Ukraine striker's deal expires in June 2009 but the club have offered him a two-year extension.

Asked if he was heading for England, Shevchenko told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'm considering it and you will know my decision on the 24th or 25th May.

"I never said I had made my mind up to go to Chelsea. I just said that I was thinking about it for family reasons."

Shevchenko had said earlier this month that he was considering leaving the club this summer for family reasons.

He is married to American model Kristen Pazik and has insisted that a move to England would not be for financial reasons.

He added: "When you play for a successful club, it is not easy to find the time to learn another language.

"I don't speak the language of my wife and my son."

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon have confirmed their interest in signing the former European Footballer of the Year and Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has hinted Shevchenko may end up playing in England.

Shevchenko joined Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 1999 and has scored 19 Serie A goals this season.

He will captain Ukraine at the World Cup finals in Germany this summer.
