Shevchenko to leave...?!?

Simple really.
We lose the best in the world, and replace him with Mr Reliable in Crespo, and either Henry or Eto'o. :p
The only player that could replace Sheva would be Henry. Eto'o is a good player but not in the same league as the other 2. I see him as the La Liga version of Andy Cole (Man Utd days), scores all the goals due to the quality of players playing behind him.

true :)

henry is the best striker in the world...followed by shevchenko...  :D

edit: normally that stirs things up... well it did when is said sheva was the best in the world.

milan wouldnt be pants really... would they

Okay so I employed a bit to much hyperbole, but the fact remains that they wouldn't be as good. That is unless Henry or Eto signs for them which I think is probably going to happen (Eto I think when/if Henry goes to Barca).

Nevertheless I'm sure Chelsea will win the CL if Sheva joins and they get a player who has creativity in abundance (something I think they lacked this season). If Robben isn't sold and reclaims his god-like form of a season and a half ago then Chelsea will be absolutely lethal.

I disagree.
Your basically saying that Milan are a one man team. When they arnt.
Sheva is a big player for us.
But we have beaten the best without him. And our strike force of Inzaghi & Gila isnt exactely one that'll be short on goals either. Gila has scored almost as many as Sheva in the league alone. In his first season. Europe is lacking, but that'll come, and until then, Inzaghi will tide us over.

Eto's the likely target for Milan to get, but will probably go cheapo and get RvN. :(
Henry wouldnt be willing to give SeriaA another bash considering how he was in it last time. While he would cut it, mentally, i think he'd be doubting himself for a move to SeriaA.

Chelsea didn't have a dip, Liverpool did and Man Utd had an incredible number of injuries. If Man Utd and Liverpool didn't have problems either of them could (and probably would) have won the league this season.

I don't buy into these sort of comments... "if team X hadn't of had a blip, they would have won the league". Well, we may as well say that Sunderland would have won the league if they hadn't of gone through a bad patch :) The best squad wins the league and the fact is that MU/Liverpool didn't play well enough to compete with the daddies. Yes, MU had some injury troubles, but not as many as Birmingham. Even the likes of Arsenal had 8 defenders missing for an extended period of time (at least 5 of them for a period of months). These are the sort of excuses we like to throw up, but at the end of the day it's a helluva an assumption to make that fewer injuries would have meant the title heading elsewhere.

Chelsea got over 90 points and no team has ever done that and lost the league. The first XI of MU is arguably a match for Chelsea, but over 38 games the squad depth and tactical nous of Chelsea pays off. They are a machine, 18 wins and 1 draw from their 19 home games is absolutely brutal.

Andy Cole has scored a lot of goals for every team he's played for, Newcastle, Man Utd, Fulham and Man City. He's a top class goal-scorer.

Personally I think Eto'o is good, but very over-rated.

RvN would get you more goals than Eto'o I feel.

add on that Chelsea are at least 6pts better than their final tally due to not giving a fig after wrapping up the league and everyone else is really way off the pace.

Milan: Sheva not for sale
Milan chief officer Adriano Galliani has insisted that Andrei Shevchenko is not for sale.

The Ukraine striker has been widely tipped to depart this summer, with Premiership champions Chelsea looking to add world-class reinforcements to their squad.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has already brought in midfielder Michael Ballack, but his more pressing concern is up front.

Hernan Crespo is expected to return to Italy this summer, and his exit could leave Chelsea with a shortage of options in attack.

Shevchenko is believed to be their number one target, and the 29-year-old's admission last week that he was considering his future further fuelled the speculation.

Milan are not prepared to sell their star man, and have strengthened their stance in warning off any interest.

"Sheva is a Milan player," said Galliani. "He is not for sale."

However, it appears that the final decision will rest with Shevchenko, who may not be able to resist the temptation of English football.

"There would only be a possible negotiation if the player asks to be sold," Galliani explained.

Shevchenko watched Milan play on Sunday from the stands

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is expecting a fight from AC Milan in his bid to sign striker Andriy Shevchenko.

Chief executive Peter Kenyon confirmed on Sunday that the club want to sign the Ukraine international - who has said he is thinking of leaving Milan.

Mourinho said: "I cannot say that Shevchenko does not interest me, but AC Milan are a very powerful club.

"They don't need to sell players in order to buy good players. It's going to be very difficult.

Mourinho added: "To improve the fantastic squad we have, you can go in two directions - young players you can work with, improve and have success in a couple of years, or the best players in the world."

Mourinho have also been linked to Argentina World Cup striker Carlos Tevez.

Mourinho recently travelled to watch play for Corinthians and Tevez, 22, is convinced he is on the brink of a move to Stamford Bridge.

"Chelsea intend to take me," he said.

"It's difficult to distance myself from them because they have shown a lot of affection towards me and my family.

"He's (Mourinho) looking at what's there. There must have been a reason to come to see me play."

But Kenyon said: "We have looked at him and he is a good player and does a good job but all the reports of him being linked with us are not right. I would be surprised to see him in a Chelsea shirt next season."

It's quite simple really.
Milan want Gallas (& Crespo?), he wants to leave, Chelsea want Shevchenko, he wants to leave.
Both clubs are flexing their muscles whilst it's in the public eye, as soon as the WC starts, deals will be done without either club losing face:)

Its not a case of losing face.
And Gallas, by law, can buy himself out of his contracts final year and Chelsea wouldnt be able to do anything about it. (Ive ive understood the law correctly).

Mourinho Doubtful Over Shevchenko Capture
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has raised doubts over what seemed as an imminent signing on behalf of his club of AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko

“Milan are a powerful club, who don’t need to sell players to buy others. I cant say that Shevchenko doesn’t interest me, but to sign him wont be easy,” he told reporters in Lisbon today.

Yesterday, Chelsea general manager Peter Kenyon revealed the Blues had a 50-50 chance of signing the Ukraine star.

It appears Milan want 40 million Euros plus Gallas in exchange for their prized posession.

'The Special One' also revealed he is searching for a third keeper to add to his star-studded squad.

Of course it is.
2 big money teams each holding trump cards which the other wants but each not wanting to lay first. As soon as the spotlight shifts (ie WC) deals will be done under the table.
I'll bet you your Sheva v my Gallas & raise you a Crespo that Gallas never needs to buy himself out of his contract:)

As I said, it's all poker:

José Mourinho has added his thoughts:

“The natural thing is that you have a big striker coming to join us at Chelsea to make this team stronger. I cannot say if it is Shevchenko or not because he belongs to Milan and they can say the same thing to him as we are saying in relation to Gallas, no offers and no way of leave.
“This is the power the club can have when they have a contract with the player. I am optimistic first of all to keep every player who is important to us and optimistic that we can bring in two or three players of big quality, Shevchenko or another one, I am confident of that general situation but I cannot say I am confident it will be Shevchenko particularly because Milan are powerful and can say no way.”
