Hi i wondered if anyone has had the same prolems....

I know its due to ati as it ran perfecting on my gtx480 but since i swapped to ati and restarted the game iam having the following problems....

1. The game stutters form time to time mainly at the start when cars are infront of me

2. the game looks like there is no AA even though its set to high

3.When in race i have no read outs from afterburner but when iam in the menu or watchin a cutscene they come back

In race

In menu

Any help would be great cheers

I 've got Shift 2 on sale couple of days back and I also find that AA doesnt do the job its meant to do - jaggies are certainly present, both in garage and while actually racing. I also found shadows on the cars to flicker sometimes.
Hopefully there is a solution, I'll look into it some more on NoGrip forums tomorrow. I think I've heard that the only way to combat jaggies in SHift 2 was either via Nvidai Nspector (do not know its AMD equiv) or MSA injector.

Oh, yes, Origin installed the game and the DLC wich has latest the 1.02 update.

Do you have no jaggies in the garage/during race? Wheel rims suffer the most, but some other stuff needs a bit more AA too.

The game casts £4, you dont need the demo;) Its a good semi-arcade/semi-sim with very good graphics. Unlike ful on arcades like Grid, this one is good with a steering wheel.

The AA issues should be solvable (I hope).

Shift 2 uses a deferred renderer, so forcing msaa through CCC won't work. MLAA will work, but doesn't look that good imho.

Best bet is InjectSMAA (google it) set on Ultra if you're not happy with the in-game aa.

The stuttering is possibly due to the cpu-based physX being used in Shift2. Shift 1 had the exact same problem, which got worse when the AI crashed.

Check the Shift2 thread on NoGrip for advice :

I've tried this one -InjectSMAA- but there are still many jaggies, especially on the rims. Need to try injectFXAA, apparently it works well in SHift2.

Best bet is InjectSMAA (google it) set on Ultra if you're not happy with the in-game aa.

How do you set it on "ultra"- when I downloaded it was just .rar archive with four files that had to be put into game directory, there was no user interface to change settings?

Open the injector.ini and change the SMAA_PRESET mode from HIGH to ULTRA.

You sure you have v1.2? It should come with dx9 & dx10 folders in the archive :

I think you've solved it!:) Changing to Ultra (yes, i did have the 1.2 version of injector) made it better, there are still some jaggies, but its certainly much better. Now I cant run after burner to monitor my framerates though...

Try Fraps for fps monitoring then.

Only other option you have, since you have a Nvidia card, is to use ssaa. This'll give you much better image quality, but it will hammer your fps into oblivion.

And with a 768mb video card, you might run into vram problems.

You'll need to use NVInspector for force ssaa. If v 1.9.5.9 doesn't work, search google for 1.9.5.5 :
