Shipping Internationally

Hmm, didn't know that was possible!
I do intend to start importing from china etc soon enough, so that would come in handy.
Does it cost, easy to use etc? You seem to know a lot about it, and I really could use your knowledge :D
It would be for business use anyway.

I was being sarcy to be honest mate - CHIEF is the customs computer system that allows courier companies to bulk declare to HMRC (stands for Customs Handling Import Export Freight)
You won't get access to that lightly!

Clearing outside of normal channels like this is really not practical to be honest, you are far better off using a courier or airfreight solution who will do it all for you and bill you for the privelige. It really isn't something that's possible for most individuals to get caught up in unfortunately.

Why is it going back and forth? If it's temporary export or warranty issues you should not be paying duty each time - but that's up to you to sort out, if you don't advise the shipping company they will have to assume the consignment is a permanent export.

INCOterms are your friend, use them!

Going back and forth because it has data on it and the client didn't feel that an internet data transfer was safe enough.

I did fill in on the declaration form to the courier exactly what it was though and that it was just data with the drive itself being of my intrinsic value and that it would be returned to me.
