Shootmania beta

I signed up for it. Really hope I get a key because this game looks like a great breath of fresh air for the fps genre.
 
I singed up a whilst ago and just got one today, it is only for 7 days though, not sure what we have to do after, I have a spare I am saving until after those 7 days.

Everyone who registered seemed to get access so.
 
Err nope, haven't received anything.

I recently got into world of warplanes beta though so I'm still chuffed about that :D
 
So...how are people finding the beta?

Been a bit of a mixed experience for me.

I was on one of the only UK servers available and it had a ping of around 200 which made things rather difficult.

When I got onto a low ping server it was...OK...but I'm not keen on the game dynamic.

The Youtube video shows railgun type weapons whereas the ones in use were more like they were firing balls of energy - low speed projectiles which made getting a clean kill difficult.

Two or three shots and you're dead and you can only fire your weapon up to five shots before it has to to recharge which means you're doing a merry dance round your opponent while it's recharging.

Long distance kills are more luck than judgement due to projectile speed.

I've only seen two maps, they are OK but nothing great.

What I do like is when someone gets into the middle they can trigger walls which encircle and close in on the level forcing everyone into a smaller circle into the centre otherwise it kills you, keeps things pretty frantic.
 
I do hope I get into the beta, big fan of Unreal Tournament games and this looks similar.

That's a bit of a concern. I was worried about projectile speeds based on the video footage I'd sign. I think I'd prefer something more hitscan tbh...
 
Do we get them in the beta?

I only played for an hour last so I don't know if I missed stuff.

Yes are in the beta. a certain block in the editor activates them so an author has to have used that block in his map. also when entering a certain tunnel enterance it activates a projectile bomb that sticks to walls and explodes in about five seconds or if hit with it is an istant kill.

There are also health replenish blocks as well.

Also with mania script you can add lots of extra modes i have seen a CS type server with bomb placement and counter terrorist have to diffuse it.

Mania script will open the game up in ways we havent even thought of yet i think this might be the start of a great addon to the trackmania franchise

I've got a Beta key but I think i'd have to register on my e-mail to get it or something. I can't be arsed to play it so might do a give away, anyone interested?
