Should I change or not?

It does matter as it demonstrates that you sell cars for superfluous and wishful reasons.

This makes giving credible advice much harder.

My advice is the same as always. Keep what you have!

I'll accept that buying the Saab was superfluous, all I've done is "undone" that and I'm now even better off than I was when I had the Mondeo.

But I'm now in a position, that couldnt possibly have been forseen, that means I could get something more enjoyable should I wish

Lets just try and wrap up this nonsense before it turns into another epic waste of time and say I will be keeping the Accord for at least 6 months. I may just keep it for the forseeable as it does do what I need it to do very well. I may want to get something more enjoyable at the end of those 6 months once things have settled down.

So trying to get this back on the topic of cars. Given that they wont do much depreciating in the next 6 months, would something like an e36 328i touring be suitable? Or even possible to get a good one these days?

/Thread

Start a new one in 6 months.

No point in looking now as things can (and do, as you know) change.

They do, although as I said, I dont see whats wrong with having something to work towards. just after a few rough ideas to put in the back of my mind

Me neither. In fact I think spending 6 months plus thinking is a good way to make the right choice. I am well into the thought process of my next car for example.

Iaind, all you need to do now is buy some used brake pads and we could turn you into DannyW the 2nd.

Impressive car turnover rate is impressive.

That's the plan, maybe I should have been more clear in my original post.

Oh come on, that is a bit offensive - the man is a liar and a cheat, It's not very fair to be compared to him

Oh sorry, here is the reply I was meant to put to fit in with the sheep.

Never had you down as a member of the 'Get offended on behalf of everyone else squad'. IainD is a big boy and he's quite capable of conveying his opinion without you telling everyone how horrid Motors is.

Oi, enough of the big boy comments, it's genetic.

Anyway, definitely going on the basis of giving it 6 months. I may well loose all interest or it may work out quite well. But the 4 cars I'm contemplating at the moment are

- x type 3.0 but only if estates drop a few quid
- accord type R - like my accord so does tick the right boxes
- Saab 95 aero estate. Liked my old 93, like my dads 95
- BMW e36 328i/325i touring

Any thoughts or real world experiences on the above would be very much appreciated

Fuel economy and running costs won't be an issue really, but would like something that's not going to spend more time in the garage than on the road.

Not yet.

If you're looking to change in six months, what we think is irrelevant as you'll probably have changed your mind by then and will be looking at different things.

I just find it a bit sad how much time is spent digging up info, pulling up on everything

Perhaps if you spent a little more time reading and a little less preaching you'd realise that nobody has dug up anything. All the things discussed in these threads are things that the OP has himself told the forum. No information has been dug up from anywhere, only information he has previously mentioned or chosen to reveal to the forum.

And the fact he's completely ignoring the discussion you and me are now having makes it pretty obvious that you are more concerned about it than he is.

Any reason you aren't considering the saloon versions of the estates?
