I used custom install for them so dont have them associated with anything or nay running processes etc but just wondered, I use MPC as default movie player and MPUI to watch up to 1920HD content with no slowdowns - kinda put into perspective if I should just install the alts and ditch the big installations of the real/apple versions ?

Anyone had nay issues with any sites not displaying real/quicktime content after installing the alts?

Cheers

Got RealALT now :) - realised that with quicktime alt I would lose quicktime VR functuality which I use a lot for my panoramic photos :D

Did not know that. Interesting. Perhaps it will be fixed in the upcoming QA 1.71?

I can play VR Quicktime panoramic movies using Quicktime Alternative.

get real alt lite, and quicktime alt (i hope they release a lite one soon), and ffdshow

download media player classic too.

whack mpc into %programfiles%\media player classic

open mpc, press o, formats, video, ok
press, Ctrl + 0, ctrl+2, ctrl + 5, select always on top, and now you've got a really smart video player :)

Note: The lite version will not play streaming content.

yes it does..
codecguide.com
Version 1.49:

- Media Player Classic [version 6.4.9.0]
- RealMedia Codecs [version 6.0.12.1483]
- RealMedia plugin for Internet Explorer
- RealMedia plugin for Opera/Mozilla/Netscape
- RealMedia DirectShow splitter [version 1.0.1.1]

Version 1.49 Lite:

- RealMedia Codecs [version 6.0.12.1483]
- RealMedia plugin for Internet Explorer
- RealMedia plugin for Opera/Mozilla/Netscape
- RealMedia DirectShow splitter [version 1.0.1.1]

The only difference between the regular and lite versions is that the lite version does not include Media Player Classic.

new quicktime alt is out now 1.72

Real Alternative Lite allows you to play RealMedia files in all DirectShow enabled players. Without this filter RealMedia files can only be played in Media Player Classic. This filter only works with files that are on your harddrive. It does NOT work with streaming content. Therefore it is highly recommended to use Media Player Classic, because MPC does support streaming content.

i'm just fussy about the filesizes of the installers, since i use my own patched version of mpc, i don't need the one that comes with these installers :)

real and quicktime alternatives are both very very good. is there a single package that combines everything, rather than downloading the packages and installing them all into the same directory?
