Should I upgrade to win 7 from xp for my gaming?

BAH! XP is still the best, people here are just conformists to the Gates!

I only wnat/need win7 so I can play just cause 2 lol

I was enjoying on my ps3 but it broke but I think the gfx will be AMAZING on 1080p on my pc!!!

AS they are amazing on PS3.

So i really wanna play JC2 maxed out on my PC....it should be awsome

I just upgraded to W7 from Vista and to be honest, there isn't an awful lot of difference. Games don't play any smoother or tanything like that.

Glad for the switch though as I am now fully prepared for a DX11 graphics card upgrade when BF3 comes out.

I dont expect games to play smoother its just just cause 2 need DX10+ to play and xp only does direct x9 or soemthing? I have a new gf card comaptaible with the higher dx so thats cool

OnLive will allow you to play just cause 2 on XP if you really want to play it :)

but you can't save your game on the free version of this service

http://www.onlive.com/

its free to download and try, games are processed on a 'server pc' and the visuals are transferred to you, complex stuff really :)

EDIT: and just cause 2 is on 'sale' on the site now if you REALLY want to play it on XP :p

well you still need a gpu which supports shader 2.0 (which is almost any of them) but yes you can play the games on there on 'ANY' pc :)

as for saving, if you play free then your given a 30 minute trial of the game and if you pay their inflated prices then you can play for as long as you like and should be able to save your games too
its only really for people who don't have a good pc for gaming really, but its not exactly 'the cheap option' :)

Backup your users folder on C drive. This will cover all pictures, games, documents and music. It even covers the hidden savegame folders of GFWL.

Go for Windows 7 Home premium as a minimum. Go 64Bit if your cpu supports it.

You'll never go back to xp once you're all setup.

I dont think Im 64bit? I have intel 2 6400 2.13ghz.

Should I get ulitmate or just home premium?

I will be upgrading cpu and ram later for bf3.

I will just back up all my stuff onto E: then isntall win7 on C;...then put save data back onto C:

Glad I have switched from Vista. I'm now able to get in the GPU market again as I look to upgrade later in the year for BF3. Will be trying to keep up to date on the best gear from not up till Christmas.

Ive got 3 HDD's and looking to get Win7 purely for games such as Just Cause 2.
I did have Vista on the third drive but I formatted it cos Vista is sh*te.

1 drive with XP 32bit
1 drive for all games
1 drive to put Win7 on.

Question is, do I get Win7 32bit or 64bit? Whats the pro's and con's? Is 64bit more system heavy?

Ive got a current spec gaming rig with an i5 and 4gb ram.

Any dual core cpu will support 64 bit. As for premium or Ultimate? That's up to you

64Bit will be fully compatible with more than 4gb of ram whereas 32bit has a maximum limit of 4gb of ram. Any more than that and it doesn't get used on a 32bit system.
You would be daft to use an i5 on a 32bit operating system. 64bit all the way.
