People all over want to take a stand against Trump/Elon etc. one way to do that (for Elon anyway) is to boycott his products/platforms.

There's nothing stopping them from boycotting, it's unreasonable to expect others to abide by your/their viewpoint, forced censorship is never a solution and creates more resentment, hatred and enforces the beliefs of those you're trying to change through force

It’s mindblowing that you would take that as the intention of this thread.

I’ll be succinct; we don’t care about Elon Musk. We don’t care what he did recently. The timing is pure coincidence.

Or was, before the OP decided to destroy the credibility of his own thread.

The purpose of this thread is to determine if we (the community, not just the mods) believe that X should be allowed as a reliable source of information. Usually what happens at any level of reasonable debate is that as soon as anyone posts a link to X, half of the posters dismiss it with a “lol twitter” comment and it destroys any further debate. We’re asking what you think of that, all of you, as members who regularly contribute to the community. It is not about if you like the owner of X or not.

We gave you the chance to have your say (not directly aimed at you) and you have all turned it into a “Do I like Elon Musk or not?” poll. Well done! Lesson learnt, in future we’ll continue to make decisions for you.

I often disagree with people, but don't immediately write them off as facist/crazy/evil/bigoted(etc), or something else terrible. The polarisation of people today is quite scary.

A man who supports and funds a political party who had actual Nazi's within their ranks, who yesterday made a gesture which looked exactly like a sieg heil and a man who supports the likes of Tommy Robinson shouldn't be written off as a fascist? What?!

Where should we draw the line? Might as well block all web links on the forums just in case you disagree with whatever content they might have?

Can you not recognise the unique danger of Twitter as a propaganda tool? It is up to Overclockers which sites should and should not be allowed to be linked to. It's not that I simply just don't like Elon. It is that he is a danger to our society. Can you not see that?

When the mods are saying stuff like this and altering my original post wording it makes me feel this thread is a waste of time no matter the result of the poll.

No I can't, because generally I have a brain and can make my own decisions about stuff I read whether on here, twitter, the bbc or any other news outlet.

I don't care much for Twitter, but this doesn't pass the sniff test in terms of censorship. If OCUK want to ban Twitter/X no problem, ban any links to other social media platforms, they are all as bad as each other anyway - or at least have the risk/capacity to be.

Regardless I like the moderation on OCUK as it's clear, simple and evenly applied, I can't say the same for many of those other platforms e.g. Twitter, Reddit etc. Having recently register on Bluesky, it's honestly just another vacuous platform.

We are not taking the mick. You raised an issue which has been raised before and we decided to open it up to the community, but in the early stages we didn’t realise it was purely because you don’t like or agree with Elon Musk. It’s supposed to be a debate on the validity of the platform to be used as a source of information for debates.

Diddums has pointed that out to you alongside multiple people in this thread, yet you choose to ignore it because of your bias.

Pull your head out your arse for a moment and realise that here in the real world, nobody has to give a toss what you think. Your opinion is just that: your opinion. Not mine, not OCUK's, not the moderating team's, only yours. You can do with it what you want and discuss it with people but trying to get things banned on a forum used by thousands of people because it doesn't align with your opinion?
