Should she lie on her CV?

Easily sorted, come September she can tell the employer that she's decided to go back to University rather then do the gap year. I really doubt she'll go over the PAYE amount in three months.

For the tax year 2009-10, you begin making National Insurance contributions when you earn above £110 a week (the earnings threshold). To find out more about Income Tax and National Insurance, follow the links below.

Just trying to help :)

TBH i doubt they'd even care what she has been up to, the majority of people the morrisons back home employ are the kind of people who have either been caught from benefit fraud and forced to work or people that have left school bummed around for years got there gf knocked up and thought **** i need a job

I take it she going for a till monkey (or as asda call them queue busters LOL), shelf staking job? if so just don't let on she's at uni and get the job

Obv. if going for a role in admin or something a lot higher than floor staff they may start to care

Not the same as the income tax threshold though is it? That's £6k or something like that.

As said, tell a white-lie, try her luck. Speak to the tax-man when she's working and explain the situation.

Wow... Why is everyone so serious? Whats the worse thats going to happen? She lies, gets the job, puts in notice (or just straight up leaves dependant on the probation period). leaves, the job is insta filled due to high work demand at the moment and employer sees a week max of a empty position... They arnt going to call a private investigator... its ****** ASDA guys lol. hardly hardcore work.

If it was for something worth telling the truth for, then by all means dont lie.

but this? lol

I hate to put a downer on things but I'm pretty sure if you lie or not you won't get the job.

ASDA only hire people that lets say... lack in education. I go to Kent University in Canterbury and ASDA refuse to hire any kind of students. They only want full-time people with no other commitments and that are not smart enough to realise the job is a load of crap and not worth doing. McDonalds similarly go along the same kind of lines but aren't as bad.

IMO lie, its not the greatest of sins in respect of ASDA, the jobs market as it is when she leaves in september they will be able to find a replacement for her. If she is walking in off the street and applying then they are not having to pay an agency a finders fee either

Lie.

Well, it is not really a lie, circumstances may change and she may need to stay on.

Business is business, tell them what they need to hear.

Lie, they have people coming and going all the time, it's not her fault the job market for students wanting summer jobs is pretty non-existant.

When she leaves i bet they get a new person in, within a week.

I made the mistake of telling the truth. I got a phone call, and was about to get invited for an interview. Last question she asks, are you still at uni. And I say "yes". Damn, what a missed opportunity. Next time, I'm taking a gap year, and come September I'll apologise and say my circumstances have changed. That is life.

Just get her to goto a temping agency, probably the best bet although as it's summer now they will be rammed. I would suggest that she be persistent then people will get the idea that she is keen and wants to work and therefore more chance of employment.

My gf did the same thing after we moved back here and needed jobs after finishing Uni. It payed off when she had done a few temping jobs and was offered a full time position for one of the companys she worked for.

With regards to lying on the C.V or at a job interview, it probably won't be that beneficial in the short term. Unless she lies about not going back to Uni. As long as she is comfortable doing something like that to a faceless global retail giant then yeah go for it :)
