Should Suarez apologize?

Your whole opinion seems to be based on a dislike of Liverpool and Rodgers and you appear to have chosen to believe everything Suarez has said.

The fact he's been threatening to hand in a transfer request and take legal action for weeks without actually doing anything says a lot imo. If he's got a case he would walk it, why hasn't he done that yet?

As for Reina, I'm not sure what you're finding so hard to understand. Valdes said he wouldn't sign a new contract and would be leaving, Reina admitted he would jump at a move to Barcelona and was waiting for an approach so Liverpool immediately brought in a replacement based on those two factors.

The fact Valdes stayed and Reina got butthurt is unfortunate but it's not hard to understand why a club would want to bring in a replacement before allowing a player to leave is it?

Although suarez has gone about this the worst way possible, I can see why he's frustrated. We were far, far of the pace last season and we've barley strengthened the squad over the summer. Next season is going to be no diffrent and Suarez is better than that. It's only the move to arsenal I find so odd.

An apology now will be meaningless. If he's going to stay he should do his talking on the pitch whilst giving the management the finger.

No. Apologies are meaningless unless sincere. Stick to being a ****, Luis.

Agree 100% Suarez is an excellent footballer..the fact he is also an animal probably helps him in his game. But people should not be expecting a wolf to be a sheep. :D

In answer to the question 'Should he apologise?', the answer is yes. He has not conducted himself correctly by washing his dirty laundry in public.

I think he will end up at Madrid before the end of the window with Rooney joining Liverpool.

If his apology makes any difference to anyone then they are an idiot. If you have to tell someone to apologise then it is not going to be sincere and therefore pointless.

I can understand the club putting *plans* in place to bring someone in..but seems to me they jumped the gun bigtime....even if Barca came in for Reina they still have plenty of time before season starts to bring a GK in...

Instead the club acted on a rumour...nothing more..and chucked Reina to the sidelines (they probably got the hump because another one of their star players mentioned another club they wanted to play for :D)

Nothing unfortunate about it...its calculated..Reina's mistake was in trusting the club. Sorry but Liverpool are dreaming if they think they are as big as Barca....Reina wanted to move back home for his family so expressed (like most players would probably admit in private) that yes they would be interested in playing for Barcelona.

You know Reina has put his heart and soul into playing for LFC for years...would have been nice if he got to at least say goodbye to the fans in a last game or something...but he was denied that courtesy by a butthurt club so he had to do it via his own website.

Does Reina not deserve a move to a big club like Barca? He's given years of loyal service to Liverpool is that not enough? The guy wants to move home but only if Barca came in for him.... think that is a compliment to LFC that only Barca would tempt him to move. But LFC dont see it like that....instead they cant get rid of him quick enough.....

Also i'm a fan of Liverpool...just find it poor the way they are treating some players.... although you are right i'm taking Suarez at his word that he isnt lying about the verbal agreement thing :D

A rumour which Reina helped to perpetuate. He effectively said that he wanted to go to Barca. We brought another keeper in before somebody else did so. Mignolet was one of the best keepers in the league last season. If we'd missed out, and Reina had then gone to Barca, we'd have been left looking like Arsenal... ;)

Yawn. Forget about loyalty in football. This is a business decision. We couldn't afford Reina's wages if he wasn't going to play, so offloaded him, just as any other company would in a similar situation. You're implying that we were purposefully trying to shaft Reina. What makes you think that? We needed his wages off the table.

As above, once we'd bought Mignolet, we needed to offload Reina. I really don't see the issue with this. If Reina had come out at the start of the summer and said "I'm not leaving", we would probably not have moved for Mignolet.

I don't care whether or not Suarez apologises from a loyalty, or a "ooh this is nice" perspective. Suarez isn't loyal to us, we are not loyal to him. We need his ability, he needs us to pay his wages while he is still contracted to us. The apology is required for PR reasons. Once he apologises, this whole thing will stop rumbling on and we can get back to concentrating on football without it hanging over the club.

In short, football is a business. Loyalty is irrelevant. Get over it.

i actually agree with just about everything you said Manic111 ...so i dont need to get "over" anything :D

Just when you hear representatives of the club talking about loyalty.....

Ah, fair enough! I just enjoy a rant ;)

The Reina issue was sad, but ultimately we needed him gone once we had bought Mignolet. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, and I wonder if we'll give him a testimonial or something before selling him permanently, but if not it's not going to haunt me.

Interesting Cavani seems to believe Suarez also

Quotes from Cavani:-

Edinson Cavani has accused *Liverpool of breaking a promise to Luis Suarez that they would allow the Uruguayan striker to join a club in the Champions League.

Suarez has insisted he was given assurances by Brendan Rodgers that he could leave Anfield to play in *Europe’s top club competition – after being shocked by the news that a £40,000,001 bid from Arsenal had not triggered a buy-out clause.

And Cavani, the international strike-partner of Suarez, who moved from Napoli to Paris Saint-Germain for £55m, says his friend has been TOO loyal to Liverpool.

Canavi said: “The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means.

“Luis had the chance last year to join a big club like Juventus, who went on to win the league in Italy.

“But, instead, he chose to stay and fight with Liverpool. Now, that’s what you call loyalty.

“I’ve known about his agreement with Liverpool and understood that he would be leaving, if they were not playing in the Champions League.”

That's probably because the only person he's spoken to regarding this is Suarez. The Uruguayan team like to chime in on these issues.

Mind you I don't know that I disbelieve him, I just think that fair play to Liverpool if he didn't get the clause checked properly and it stands up when challenged.

Its already been challenged, he called in the PFA, they took our side. The person he should be ranting at is his agent, he has got it wrong every time this summer.

Without knowing the full details of what actually went on it's difficult to comment.

If Liverpool management told Suarez that he would be able to leave if any offers came in then I don't see why he should have to apologize, I was surprised to hear that he extended his contract last year would he have done that without some kind of release agreement in place? Liverpool have not looked like finishing top four for several years.

Also do Liverpool really want to keep a player like Suarez against his will? there's no telling what he'll do when he's unhappy.

Suarez problem if he didn't have the contract checked by capable people, also he shouldn't bother giving interviews saying he'd stay if we didn't get CL.

It is rather funny watching a shed load of people all of a sudden believe and side with suarez

Cant see him apologising to Liverpool or Rodgers in all honesty, he doesnt seem the sort to do so. Suppose Rodgers has had enough and decided to 'punish' him by letting him train apart from the rest of the squad.

Tbh Liverpool should be looking to get rid of him this summer but not to Arsenal thanks:p...i can only see him causing more grief for Liverpool this yr and because he wants out so badly, will he really give his all whilst playing for Liverpool this season. Looking at the Liverpool squad even with Suarez in it, they wont make CL football and having him banned for the first 6 games, is not going to help Liverpool either.

Anyhow as hilarious as this whole Suarez saga is, its quite sad that a player is ****ing around with his club. And this is the exact reason why Wenger and Arsenal should back off completely from Suarez...hes nothing but trouble and if he does leave Liverpool...i can see him causing more problems for whichever club he goes.

Good luck Liverpool in trying to tame the racist cannibal, methinks you will need a lot of luck to get him back onside imho.

A tame Suarez is not a player anyone wants least of all Liverpool. It's his attitude and antics that help make him the player he is.

LOL so you are quite happy for him to carry on dragging your clubs name through the mud with the things he gets up to on and off the field?? :/

Anyhow i still think this saga is far from over, it will be interesting to see how Liverpool deal with him now that they have made it very clear that hes not for sale.

It is but if the club have done the dirty on him and gone back on a verbal agreement because his agent didn't read a contract properly why should he have to apologize? also most articles put out are PR.

Brendan Rodgers is a hypocrite as well if you read some of the stuff he was saying before jumping ship to Liverpool, where was his loyalty when tested?
