Show Me Your "Reptile" :0

I see your snakes.... and raise you a Fire Skink :

^ Kochanski

^ Kryten (his head is kinda square)

I was under the impression that fire skinks are flighty little blighters?

They are pretty little lizards though. A friend of mine had a m/f pair ages back, but the vivarium stat went mental and baked them to death. :(

He also had a very friendly berber skink which would climb onto your head and sit there for ages. Very friendy, easy to keep and I'm currently trying to convince my wife to let me have one.

I currently ony have 3 tarantulas and some cockroaches, but I think I'm getting back into the hobby again (used to keep loads of inverts).

What kind of tarantulas? I know it's off topic but I really like them and have wanted one for ages now, just never done anything about it...

On topic, do people keep venomous snakes? I take it that most snakes need to be kept well away from children?

Yep, they're burrowers - I have a few nice pics of Kochanski half stuck out of the peat bed - they look so cool shovelling away with the front legs then disappearing

They're very tricky to get hold of initially, and like a lot of lizards they can shed their tails for defence, but I think that's usually only done when life is threatened... not on a whim. When they're out of the tank they're fine - sitting around on shoulders or attached to a top vertically, they have little claws that work superbly for that.

They are pretty little lizards though.
Eye makeup :D

^ Poor things, hope that never happens to any reptiles we have.

He's looking a bit happier now:

Snake's very pretty. Garter's do look pretty evil because they have "eyebrows". Likin' the skull :D

People definitely do keep venomous snakes. You need a DWA licence to own them in Britain, and in fact, anything is allowed apart from animals that are on the CITES list (endangered species). My personal favourite 'hots' are Gabboon vipers (very large, triangular heads, and very wide but short bodies)

People also keep crocodiles and caymans, which are allowed under a DWA licence too. If you can afford it, fit it in (or outside) your house and it's not endangered, chances are you can own one.

Only just noticed their 'eyebrows' - that's what gives them the constant scowl :D

That looks like a lizard minus the legs!! Love the body pattern particularly the 'spine', if you cross your eyes it looks like a skinny (fast) snake on top of a fat one :D

Edit: The skull reads "Poor old Fred, smoked in bed" :D (It'll be on my gravestone :()
