managed to convince myself i wouldn't spend all my money on an iMac/mac mini but after viewing this thread i can safely say im back on the heavy research...

I think you are OK with Mac stuff as long as you are aware of the update cycles. I got my 2011 MBP as soon as the sandy bridge versions came out and it kicks ass. My brother in law who knows I am into macs last summer just went out and bought a 21.5" imac a week before the new ones. He spent a £1000 and in less than a year its 2 generations out of date. That is where you get stung.
 
Just seen a PowerMac G5 up there, I bought one September last year (Dual G5) and had some real good fun with it. Unfortunately I needed space and had to sell it, but I gotta be honest what a laugh it was!
 
New MacMini up and running, now just waiting for Apple to release the new Macpros and im done buying hardware for a good while. :)
 
I have no functioning camera but I do have a MBA 11" on my lap right now... Core i5 4gb ram 128gb disk model :p
