My desk is a mess:

Dell U2711H
13" rMBP

32" Sony KDL32W653 (for gaming & second monitor for VMs)
Sony MDR-MA900 Headphones
Astro Mixamp

How does it feel using a non retina screen with your laptop? Isn't the whole point of a rMBP the screen?

I need some of that action...my old Macbook (unibody) lasts maybe a couple hours at best on a full charge. :o

Also expected more posts in here after Xmas. :p

Haha yeah that's what I was hoping for!

I have the low end 13" model and the battery is insane. Granted I just fart about on the web most of the time. Since I upgraded to Mavericks I have noticed an increase in battery life too!

A few new bits and bobs for me. So happy with the final outcome - Exactly how i imagined it to be. Clean & simple!! (IMO)

Mini trunking and cable ties are my best friends when it comes to keeping things tidy.

Nice set up, HP shameless ripping of the cinema display design actual comes in handy, doubt anything else expect the cinema display would fit in so well. How do you find the screen?

Exactly why i went for it to a certain extent. Originally i was going to go for an AOC monitor then ordered an Asus mx239h. After a few days, and still waiting for delivery, i wasn't too sure about the circular stand or the all silver frame so i decided to go for the HP instead (for obvious reasons :D) - However, i wouldn't of ordered had the spec sheet been completely naff. This is for general use and not gaming). Although it doesn't have speakers, unlike the AOC & Asus, this isn't really a problem as i normally use headphones and the audio can still come via the MBP even when in clamshell mode.

Im not afraid to say i couldn't afford Apple cinema display but the HP is a pretty decent monitor with dual HDMI inputs, VGA & MHL. Although slightly dear at £199 from PCWorld it performs and looks the part.

what HP monitor is that?

HP Envy 23" (HERE)

Looks good with that Mac setup

Thank you sir!

I used Antec accent lighting to do it once, I'm not sure if that is how Raymond did it but it worked well until it lost its stick and fell off (after about a month)

Even if you could afford it, it is crazy over priced, Dell just released [at ces] a 4k monitor for $699 and apples still costs £899. Totally not worth it.

How are you finding that keyboard?

I was looking at this earlier on Logitech's website, well I say looking. Nursing a semi is a better description.

Really good keyboard but expensive. I originally ordered a wired Apple keyboard with numeric pad as I'm doing a lot of mathematics and networking at the moment, however, i changed my mind on drilling a hole through my table to run the cable out of sight and the K811 looks stunning.

If you have a MBP then its pretty much identical in regards to feel and size. The extra touch of it being backlit helps with night time work.

I haven't had to use it yet but it also allows you to connect to an additional 2 devices, i.e iPhone/Ipad and literally takes a few seconds to pair.

Like i say, at £85, its almost double that of the keyboard i was originally going to go for, or even the Apple bluetooth keyboard but it really is worth it. Again, IMO!!!

Wow thats for this, I just started a new job this week and I need to pick a keyboard/mouse. I personally didn't like the apple keyboards as some of the keys are different compared too the laptop, I rather have something identically like the K810. It is pricey but won't come out of my pocket :P

The Dell is a 30Hz TN panel. Sure the 4K res is nice, but for image quality it'll still pale against the 1440p IPS 60Hz Cinema Display.

What I really want is apple to update their displays, I want matte anti glare stuff. Eyeing up the 32" 4K Sharp at the moment.
