That GSXR is looking bloody lovely now.

Well done

IMO the 04-08 R1 looks nicer than the new one, but the new one is supposedly much better in terms of ride.

As to having multiple bike I completely agree.....

I've now got an SP1 for track and an SP2 for road :D

I think it's just the crossplane crank that makes it a better ride, it's supposedly got better low-mid power than mine, but I once read that the performance of both is similar: bhp torque etc..... whether that's true

I remember when they first came out, I was chatting to a guy at the local dealership/bike meet area (:D) and he had gone from an 08 to an 09 and said that other than the noise and slightly better pull, he didn't rate it as much as all the reviews had - he also said the standard cans were far too big for a pillion to be comfortable and trying to clean near the rear shock was nearly impossible.

I still think they sound amazing, I don't think I'd have one.... I happily stick the engine in mine though :p

I still think the 09/10 R1 is a complete dog to look at, I cant believe how the took what was the best looking of the litre bikes by quite some way and turned it into the mutt it is.

Nearly bought an 08 R1 last time round but decided against it. It looks fantasic but couldnt understand where all the low down grunt had gone. I had 2000 R1, the second model and it had stacks of low down grunt, awesome machine. seems after that model they went in the search of BHP figures and all the power went to the last few revs. over the last 5 or so years all the inline 4s litre bikes have to ridden like a 600 to get get the most out of them IMO. Hence why I switched to the dark side and bought a vtwin :D

They do grow on you kidloco lol well it did on me.

one thing he did say is it seem's more powerfull bottom and mid range than the 99 R1 wich did suprise me as like you say the early R1's were a lot more pokey before they went fuel injected.

an old one of him on the 99
