Epic dogs in here, my dog is really old now and we are debating getting a pup now or wait til she's gone.

If she's well mannered with desirable traits, not too frail to wihstand the near constant attention of a puppy, then she may usefully instil her own good traits on the pup. The converse is also true...

I see the same look on `er indoors boat-race, regularly, pre-empting a tongue lashing for some misdemeanour of mine.

My Whippet is on lock down for the foreseeable, it looks as if he's pulled a muscle in his chest/shoulder. There's no obvious signs of trauma, he's eating, doing his business as normal etc so I'll give it a week and see how it goes.
