Although I don't play WoW anymore, I just can't help but admire the WoW universe, so I made a tier 14 concept for some Paladin gear in a style similar to the way blizzard present it.

I'm trying to learn at the moment, I did this.

I did trace it but, I'm focusing on the forms at the moment.

Lance, is all of your work just a multitude of brushes and tablets? I'm interested in your work flow if you don't mind sharing a bit more. I've not used a digital tab for artwork.

I'm still learning myself, so I don't know how useful my workflow would be. It also depends on what mood I'm in and what I'm drawing.

The best way to learn with a tablet is to just sit down and practice, like you would do with pen/pencil/paper. Try doing some basic shapes to loosen you up and then do some observational drawings, then once you've got the basics down move onto bigger things.

If you want to know anything specific then feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer.

Wow Lance, i'm amazed you can do your work so bloody fast. I've never really tried digital art before but it really interests me now. How would you compare it to drawing with a pencil? is it easier/quicker? or just simply another medium to get used to?

Oh and the face you did in Z-brush - Agent Van Olden?

There is some great stuff going down in here. I've come to add some things from my eportfolio which I've just sent off. I'm doing an Access to Art - Illustration course at college after a gap year which amounted to little! It's the first time I've really strayed away from digital art and I am loving the learning experience, as well as being back in education!

This is from the 'exploratory stage' textile week. Collage on the left and my final piece on the right.

Lino print of the all knowing Universe Owl. In the original drawing the universe is clearly visible, but gouging out lino is somewhat less accurate!

Left is white paint on black paper. Right is black paint on white paper.

Watercolour which went towards a 6 page panoramic book called Senses of the Frozen Planet. The orca represents sound/hearing.

...And here's the book! (Bound by my fair hands and all!)

I hope you enjoyed them :)

I've missed being able to contribute my drawings to this thread since my Kate/Matrix twins stuff, but I've had problems with my eyes meaning staring at a PC screen for longer than 30 mins is impossible :( .

Some brilliant work by everyone in here, keeps my hopes up for when I can get back to doing some digital art. However I picked up a pencil about 30 mins ago as I got the itch to have a quick half hour sketch in pencil and decided to start off simple and draw a cat ornament. Nothing special but I haven't drawn with a pencil in many years, lost a lot of technique but not being able to use the PC much will help me get back to pencil and paper

I know, I know, it's not very good, but I'm really really proud of my 2 hour effort. Kept screwin it up and restarting :(

The poster, not the computer :p

It is different then using a pen/pencil, I'd recommend a good foundation in traditional art, but some can just go straight to digital and work great. The digital workflow, in my opinion, is a lot quicker and it's a lot easier to amend or refine. I'm now working on a wacom cintiq 24HD and I will never go to a standard tablet again, it's the closest digital tool I've used to emulating pencil and paper.

The Zbrush head was just something I started, I used no reference and I have no clue who this Van Olden is:) Thanks for the nice feedback to:D

That's sick! what did you use to create that?

I used Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 and my Wacom Cintiq 24HD, but it can definitely be done with with most other pieces of painting software and other tablets. (I've done far better work on a Trust Tablet) It was just a quckie to show a friend some stuff.
