Lola's got a lump again in her back where the injection on Tuesday went.

Vet did it further down her body this time, because he said injecting the same place over and over if there's a reaction means that they can end up with nasty cancers due to the reaction

:(

Don't worry about it - it's a perfectly normal reaction to the injection.

Both my two had a little lump where they were injected and in both cases the lump wasn't causing them any discomfort and it disappeared within a few days. And pretty much every cat I've known has always got a little lump where the needle went in, following inoculations, booster jabs, etc. And it's always gone away again within a few days.

As for causing cancer? Only in the most infantesimal of cases and the sort of lumps in question grow in size rapidly and cause the animal a fair amount of discomfort from the off.

I think your vet is scaremongering slightly with their previous advice about repeated injections in the same area causing cancer, which in turn is worrying you needlessly.

You'd know if there was something to worry about.

She doesn't like me touching the area, (does a little miaow and goes to get away) and its about 3cm long and 1cm wide.

Dave has nothing but he is bigger than her, so maybe I just can't feel one on him

For reference, my two boys had their jabs done at 12 and 15-weeks. After the first time there was a lump in their necks roughly the size of a garden pea, which vanished after a week, the second time it was about the size of a petit pois and that went after two days.

The lump in Lola's neck could be an allergic reaction to the type of vaccine used, as a result of the vet's injection technique or something else entirely. It does sound unusually large, but IANAV.

If I were you, I'd call the vet and raise my concerns. As said lump would seem to be caused directly as a result of their actions, there should be no charge to get them to take a look at the problem and diagnose the issue.

If it's something serious then you've caught it quickly and they'll fix it. And if it isn't, you've saved yourself from worrying about it.

Just spoke to the vets. They've put it on her notes she has another lump, but said as long as she's eating/drinking and ok in herself I don't need to bring her in.

That's true - especially the anti-lieukemia injection!

One of my gran's cats had that in the neck when she was young - stupid vet didn't know what they were doing - ended up dying only a few years old when a massive growth appeared on her neck.

Apparently it would have split the skin, burst and infected - that's the way the poor thing would have gone :(

After a while (the lump was half the size of the cats head)... when the pain started... she had to be put down... one of the sweetest cats you've ever seen (to my gran, she hated everyone else lol).

My gran didn't take that easy :( :(

Speaking with other vets - that specific injection should be done in one of the front legs... just in case they have the growth - at least "only" the leg needs to be amputated. As it was on her neck - there was nothing they could do. It's a shame you can't sue vets for malpractice.

Here is our little sod, Jacob. Just under a year old.

Theres a new cat strolling around our area. Think its rather young as it has no problem coming up to strangers.

It's already attempted to come into my house. I dare note let it in though.... My cat wouldnt be too pleased!

Oskar is over ten years old now. Lola is about two. They do not get on at all. Well Lola gets on with Oskar, but Oskar hates Lola.

Maine coons are fantastic (but not if you live in Essex it seems!). Monty is also really pretty, great hair.

One of ours gets a bit of a reaction to vaccinations, she's also had a bit of a sore patch on her back for the last week so we have some bathing cream...not enjoying that but its cleared it up. She has had feline acne in the past, temperamental beast!

I love the way Winston and the dog play that's really cool.

Liking the Cyprus kitten too, quality.

We have new additions, they're sisters and are MENTAL. This is but a tiny peek at what they're pretty much doing all day long atm!

Excuse the audio, I forgot to remove it :p
