Mine came with the cube trim which i wasnt sure about, so i got a wood set. I think the whole set was about 40 quid or something (eBay). It stands to reason that i could in theory re-sell either of the sets i now have for about the same, so changing it doesnt even cost anything.

Yeah, I ain't a fan either. I am considering plasti dip, but not sure if I can really be bothered.

It's a bit of a pain in the arse removing it all, inevitably one of the clips breaks. I think paint would probably look better than plasti dip though.

Jez e46 wood is disgusting, don't do it!

The wind deflectors are for practicality rather than aesthetics :p

Like the look of that MX5 with the ducktail, very nice. :)

As for the E46 wood, I think it depends on what wood and what the rest of the interior trim is. There is a pale wood which looks absolutely rank, but the darker ones look fine.

I did think about getting it blended in but it was a lot more expensive and I got the impression the body shop wasn't that keen on doing it, given the potential for cracks etc over time. A single piece bootlid with ducktail is available for the earlier mx5s but there is relatively little out there for the newer models sadly... I agree single piece would look loads better.

As for the black roof... I wanted a red one but this black one was available locally and was very cheap. I was gonna get it repainted but it's grown on me, looks like many of the limited edition mk3.5 mx5s which have black mirrors, wheels and folding hard top roof.. Might get the screen surround wrapped gloss black to match, go all the way. I like the car but understand there are those who aren't keen on the changes.

Swapping the trim in an e46 is the easiest job ever, I could probably swap the whole set out in under 10 minutes :p

I've got a black leather (sport obviously) interior, I think the dark wood looks quite good, but then I generally like wood trimmed interiors in all cars.

That said I might put the cube stuff back in, I can't decide. :)

The rear lights are as they came from the factory, the black outline is a rubber seal. Its almost impossible to mod the rear lights without using a dremel, they don't come apart at all easily. Not a fan of the Lexus look tbh but that's how they are. As for the mirrors I replaced the whole units with gloss black ones from a car that was being broken, and sold the red ones on. Cost to change was about a tenner in the end for those, cheaper to swap them out than get them painted.

No idea yet, I just got a call on Thursday whilst walking around Oban to tell me it happened.

Apparently just lost power + EML, pulled off at the very first junction and it just went up in flames.

Bought it 5 months ago at a dealer so not sure where he stands with that.
