Show Us Your Motors!

would i be sad to tell you, i have owned in teh last 3 years
bmw e46 m3 supercharged
bmw 335d remapped
audi rs4 b7
audi a7 bi turbo diesel
audi rs6
audi rs4
audi s8
bmw m5 f10
audi rs4 supercharged
plus range rovers etc inbetween
and I am more excited about this than them all, although i will genuinely miss the street cred
Out of curiosity what's the fastest car you have owned out of that impressive list? The 335d is talked about by many like its untouchable on the road in real world driving due to its Torque but how does it fare compared to proper performance cars like the M5 or RS4 etc?

Brilliant question.

Its hard to remember some of them as some were with me a month or two and others 9.

The 335D was unreal, I would own one in a heartbeat if i did not feel the range was for me. It just did everything, the power and torque delivery was superb and 39mpg average is not to be sniffed at.

Usual RS4 B7's are great but need driving hard

The S8 was great very lazy engine but the tech on mine (56 plate) was way advance and was more like a 11 plate car, sounded nice good value

The RS6 C6 v10 twin turbo was insane, sadly short lived as i just couldn't justify the cost in my start up years of my business, it was just very fast, very subtle looks (which i like) felt special

The A7 Black edition bi turbo was the biggest let down, supposed to be a 60k car, did not feel that, engine was nice but 335D which was 7 years older was better

E46 supercharged was insane in a straight line but the chassis could not deal with the power imo, did bedford track day and was not nice

BMW m5 F10 was a lovely car, it had it all, however driving around at usual road speeds made me feel like i was in a 520D, the looks did too. I had issues with the dealer and the car and it mar'd the whole experience. I remapped it with DMS to 700 bhp but it never felt that fast and there was a huge disconnect between the driver and car which no matter what setting you could not get back. I call it driving a playstation game

RS4 Supercharged has everything, noise, power, looks, retro feel, seats and specialness, it genuinely is epic but i do or have not used it, feel vulnerable for it being nicked so have to block it in every night and i am at that stage where i use these second / third cars once in a blue moon, its lovely to have and sounds the nuts but I want to take it to track and I am unsure how i feel about that, if it breaks its big big £££££ plus if i am being honest, driving around a 600+ BHP heavy car is not as fun as it sounds at times it takes a lot more managing and i just want to go and have fun "point and squirt" slower but learning driver ability.

well there is my history :) of the last few years

I would own again

335D
RS4 (just for the noise)
RS6 for pure power

rs6 was fastest or felt it
m5 felt quick or as quick but was different
335d and rs4 not much in it depending on conditions

I wouldn't own another m5 f10, although when i look at pics i had it was nice
if i was spending 10k ish I would get a S8 again too

I imagine the fact that it has a cage means it will have many other supporting mods

What I meant is in standard is guise it isn’t great with a charger. Everything then needs updating which mine wasn’t brakes and suspension specifically

It was great for day to day but on track the extra power was not usable

It sounded lovely mind you

So I ditched the Porsche for a truck :D

97 Hilux with some serious lift! 3ltr turbo diesel engine swap, side exit exhausts (no boxes) It's obnoxiously loud, crazy to drive and puts a massive grin on my face :D I'm sure my neighbours hate me already lol

Why the move?

I would also be interested in knowing your thoughts. I'd thought that the 235 was the preferred car, at least in motoring journalist circles.

I know exactly what your both thinking and let me just address it first. Undoubtedly the M235i is more engaging drive, you feel the car more through the steering wheel, its got a straight six and has that boy racer feel when we put your foot down a bit around a corner and feel the back poke out. Outside of that, its incredibly practical, cheap to run and wonderfully comfortable on long journeys. I've had the car for 3 years and love it, I actually still have it and cant decide whether to get rid of it or not....

When looking to buy another car, I've always had a soft spot for the TT and loved the latest shape. I didnt even look at another BMW and the reason is sadly simple for me.... If I upgraded and got the M2/M3/M4, the interior of the car is identical to my 235 and previous 320d. I wanted a new interior and the Audi interior is just beautiful.

Another factor was discount. If I took a step up to a proper M car or the RS, discounts are not as great and I am very regimented with sticking to within what I budget out after taking in to account mortgage, money to put away every month etc etc.

O and the wife prefers the TT....
