If you look past the stupid wide alloys and other little niggles it’s not a bad car.

Bodywork is decent. But my god was it depressingly dirty from underneath. Literally caked in grit, gunk, oil residue and other nasty stuff. Need to replace a few minor niggly bits and it should be fine.

Drove fine on the way back from collecting it and it’s rather quick. Didn’t expect it to have that much torque but it has surprised me.

Cleaned it all and it’s much much better. Just hadn’t been cleaned in probably a year.

Looked at those, as well as 330i's and 335i's etc for ages before I went mad and got stuck into E30 world...

Psst, lemme drive it old buddy old pal, curiosity is piqued. You can drive the ****box ;)

Wheels don't look too offensive from the photo angle.

They’re 10j wide rims. So yeah, wide. Rear tyres are brand new eagle f1s 265, so not exactly cheap. The front are rs3 but 255s on a 10j rim with 10mm spacers on because without those the wheels would touch the shock.

Not a fan of stretched tyres even if it’s not overly bad.

So yeah, a bit of a “scene” thing. Still having looked at what the alloys retail for, I would get good money selling them as they’re in reasonably good condition. Though I prefer what bmw have with the staggered setup, so oem mv4s or 313s should do the job. Difficult finding decent ones because they crack or have been welded.

Like I said, niggly things but it’ll get to what I want it to be.

They’re decent for what they are, spec is reasonable. Like I said, it’s the little things will I’ll have to attend to bring it up to scratch.

Downside is it’s been on a long life service plan, al be it with bmw/Indy garages at the correct service intervals. It’s not a bad thing but I’ve never been keen on LL plans.

@skaif Yeah, I don’t want to break the gearbox. I just plan to make it a nice decent example of a car. Had my modifying time with the focus I sold.

Have you checked if it is already mapped ? The alloys and ring sticker would make me think it's likely to have a map also might be the angle but the tail pipes look bigger than stock.

No paperwork to say it has so not sure. The alloys will be going, I’m going to find some nice oem ones. The owner before me had been to the ring in it with some friends so I guess that’s where that’s from.

Tail pipes are larger than stock as it has a stainless system. It’s barely audible.

It’s a shame but it’s a risk I took as the body work sold it for me along with its servicing.

From factory it had electric dakota oyster leather and wallnut trim. It’s a shame the leathers gone and been replaced with black manual seats but there you go.

Ah man Oyster and walnut is the best combo in one of those. Does it have iDrive?

Yes it has CIC idrive professional. Adaptive/dynamic xenon lights.

It’s clear it’s seen a ****** along the way in its ownership as someone had got wired a sprintbooster too at some point.

The trim had been wrapped carbon, after removal of it it’s became apparent it’s aluminium smooth and in very good condition. The downside was the centre trim around gear surround and cic controller is walnut and now ruined because of the wrap. I haven’t taken it all off just a scab to see what was underneath.

So have managed to source another silver aluminium trim. If I ever manage to find dakota oyster electric heated interior I will probably buy. It’s a shame because those seats were also isofix, someone had specced this reasonably well from factory but it’s been ruined slightly along the way.

Next is engine maintenance.

I will also have you know Bradford makes the best curry’s.

Shimla Spice Shipley was the sole redeeming feature of having a gf working in Bradford for a year. Sublime curry and the largest naans I've seen.

Bradford on the whole though? That city could be razed to the ground and I wouldn't bat an eye, never seen such atrocious driving, parking or lack of consideration for others.

Right it's me again with another car change :D

I got rapidly fed up with how uncomfortable the 330d felt and tbh the E92 quality is pretty naff. So I had a think and thought I need to go to one superb 'daily' rather than a few and a good one at that with similar quality to the Aston. E46 I've borrowed to a friend until he gets back on his feet and he may even end up keeping. E36 is still with me and plan on spending some time myself getting it perfect.

I present my new peasant mobile, Jag XK 4.2. Very similar to the Aston. I actually find the interior more enjoyable. Big lazy V8. Quick on the paddle shift (quickest I've had) comfy inside, enough toys etc etc. I'm hoping this one keeps me happy for a while and I can stop changing. Can't say I've not experienced a load of good metal though :D

The basics : the chassis is great it can be a great GT car for cruising to work and then you can still have the fun of giving it a good blast on the paddles. It would be nice to have a bit more V8 volume as a bit sedate but that's what you expect from this age Jag I suppose. Unless it's @Gibbo SVR. It has been returning 27MPG which is incredible for what it is.

thats lovely! I want one bad.

scared to have one as a daily... :D

Reliability wise they are good cars, you certainly get a lot for your cash with the XK.

This cost me £7k when you take what I paid for the 330d and the cash I added to go to this.

The old chap I bought it off took my 330d as he needed something for his lad.

yeah I know they're supposed to be pretty decent all around. Only thing that puts me off is the reviews etc saying that suspension is way to hard and crashes over every bump?

I want a v8 as a daily driver, don't want to spend much on one to be honest.

so been looking at lexus gs430, ls430, xk etc..
