Show Us Your Motors!

This one doesn't have an engine in it yet so the front end is sitting high. When it does the camber will be much more neutral, however one the reasons for it is that the suspension geometry is very basic. The axel simply pivots at the centre-line of the car so as the nose of the car rises the top of the wheels tilt outwards.

As for what it is, it's a 1952 Allard J2X. Built in London!

Is it just me, or is a google search suggesting those are big money?

Lovely little thing though. Which engine are you planning on putting in?
It will have a 365ci Cadillac V8 (1956) initially, while we rebuild a more period correct 331ci Cadillac V8 for the future.

These are both being paired with a 3 speed transmission from a Cadillac Lasalle. This combination was used from new as many cars were shipped engine-less to the US where engines were in plentiful supply.

The 365ci and even a later 390ci version were used later on but never, as far as we know, in any new or competition cars. To get the FIA papers for the car it will have to have the 331ci in it.

It’s really important to maintain originality with this sort of car, but it gets progressively more difficult as proper period parts get harder to obtain.

Hopefully, next year, I’ll be driving this at Prescott La Vie En Bleu (where I crashed the J2 in 2018!). J2 is pretty much back in one piece now, so we should have both cars together by then.

I got Associate membership for Christmas this year, so will be at more Prescott events for sure. Will keep an eye out for this.

Went for a final 2019 hoon earlier this week with some guys from a Facebook group:

Had enough of the Kia Optima Phev. Very cheap to run but soulless and not my kind of car at all. 2.5 years into the 3 year lease I've been able to hand it back without penalty.

Having had a Defender, Discovery 2 and Grand Cherokee I really do like my large 4x4's. I'd wanted a Patrol for years but the fact that they are such old tech and poor running costs had put me off. I decided to bite the bullet anyway and get one.
I bought it cheap with known issues (and obviously some surprises). Almost all of the issues have been sorted in the last week with the exception of the gearbox reverse switch which will be replaced once it arrives on Monday.

It's as big as a tank, drives like one too, but makes me happy for all its faults!

Picked up this shed 2 weeks ago, Won on Ebay for £510, 2003 V70 D5 manual, 4 Previous owners, 233000 miles! 6 months ticket, Pretty much Volvo FSH with 9K+ of receipts since 2013! It's got the dash fault-£80 fix, Drives lovely, Sounds great for a diesel, Seems good on fuel, Replacing my remapped 850 T5 which bloody drinks it :D
