You’ll be reet. Generally speaking most coilovers don’t fair well on our roads.

Never had an issue myself but only ever had quality ones in my cars, ran KW Clubsports a used set at that in my M3 for five years which was driven hard and never an issue. The 458 has coilovers fitted as standard, again no issues.

I've had friends with stuff like BC, HSD etc on M3's who suffered from noisy coilovers and poor ride quality on the road but that is what you get when you buy cheap.

A lot of the cheaper ones such as Buddy Club, BC etc are just rebranded Max Speeding rods now. We can thank China for that lol.

The air of doubt with Ohlins specifically is a little cloudy as there are quite a few knock-off outfits over in the Far East. Out of the many complaints it’s hard to know how many aren’t real Ohlins, as is the nature of the internet.:D

Our roads are terrible, anything aftermarket that lasts 3 + years fairing all weather in the UK well regarded or not can’t be all that bad!

Well I’m buying direct from Öhlins in Germany so won’t be a knock off. :)

If have gone KW as always had fantastic results with them as my Mustang has them and they were superb on that and five years later they are still perfect on that car too and they have covered over 50,000 miles now on that car.

But I went Öhlins as speaking to owners of S2000 who ran both KW and Öhlins rate the latter as superior on the road and nearly as good on track and my S2000 is a road car.
Yes our roads are terrible but I rarely hit pot holes as I tend to see them.

Photo is a few weeks old when I last gave it a semi-proper clean. I did clean it today but honestly that was just to remove the dust from it sitting still aside from the odd trip to the shops.

Still enjoying her and still considering a remap, but need to wait probably until next year now due to money going elsewhere.

Random....

Citation needed?

BC aren't rebranded MaxSpeedingRods. Unless you mean China are pumping out fake ones?

Yes, a lot of imitation works. The BC sold in the Far East aren't the same as ours anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if the BR range has a lot of shared components with the likes of the others, though.

Surprised you didn't go with MeisterR considering how the Honda boys rate them (joke). It's not so much just the potholes but the salt and grit, too. Ohlins are definitely the better choice, I'm just skeptical of running any set on a road car these days. Like putting on a set of Jordans and jumping in the local pond. You can really tell the difference between clicks on the Ohlins, most dampening adjustment is a placebo!

if you run through winter and salt I suggest coilover "socks" mate runs them and his coilovers look brand new!

my s2k is tucked away for the winter so I'm not fussed about that.

My Tein coilovers have lasted over 8 years but are due a rebuild. Was about to get them done before all this stuff happened. Doesn't change the fact they are rock hard for UK roads. Fantastic on track however. In future if I was ever upgrading the suspension on a road car. I would rather have a decent matched setup of dampers and springs with some after market roll bars.

Oh come on guys, I am a long standing member, the car isn't going missing.

Sending you a message dude :)

...Or I would, but your trust keeps redirecting to a different user.

My 5 RS has brand new TEINs. I've never owned them before so interested to see how they are once I get the car on the road.
