A few cabin pics of the Mégane for those interested :)

I will never own a Renault again, but that looks fantastic.

Did you ever consider the Type R? It’s also supposed to be excellent to drive spiritedly, if you can get past the looks.

That's fair, we had a clio in the past years ago and it wasn't great :D

I looked at the civic a bit, and I do think that would offer the better drive overall but I wasn't overly sold on its looks unfortunately

My old R19 16v was a great drive, but the ownership experience was abominable; terribly thin metal panels that rusted from the inside out, they also picked up dents in the wind. The gearbox also ate itself at 60k. The car was just generally sub-par build quality and frustrating to work on. I was a poor student at the time, which made matters worse.

I wish you all the best with the Megane, it would be great to hear Renault has moved on from all the issues of the past.

That sounds like a nightmare, :(

Damn I hope so! Thanks

That interior, you can still tell its not a premium marque, but its a huge step up from some of the stuff they used to offer. It actually looks nice inside! And those seats look fantastic.

The MK3 Clio interior was absolutely appalling for instance. I don't remember my friends MK2 Megane being much better either, cheap plastic and peely rubber.

I think French automakers in general have come a hell of a long way in the past 10 - 15 years.

Yeah I get you, its not classy or anything. Plenty of plastic to be found, but I feel the seats do help add to it a bit.

They are much better that the seats in the ST I've come from, they were just too tight on the old bot bot

That Megane looks lovely. Nice inside too, without being top quality as others have alluded to. But I bet it's still a nice place to sit!

And the colour! There's just something about yellow cars...

Thanks :)

Yeah it stands out especially in the sunshine. The orange they offer is really nice too, was lucky enough that the dealer had one of each side by side (orange was a manual and a bit higher mileage) but otherwise both looked great. Yellow edges it for me personally

Fast Renaults do look best in yellow.

Not keen on the red accents on the alloys, but apart from that your Megane RS looks gorgeous! Enjoy it :)

Sadly my GTI from post #54267 hasn't faired too well....the garage has called and it's a write off (£7K+ repair bill). I hope they give me a fair price for my car as it was very well kept low mileage example with a full service history, just paid for a major service and MOT...typical. This is my first time experiencing this so I'm not sure what to do now whilst I wait around to hear from my insurance, guess I just start looking for a new car?

Yeah I can see the red being a love/hate sort of deal

Sorry to hear about the GTi especially as you did so well to look after it yourself. Gutted for you :(
