Could you list a few of the niggles it's had please?
Most expensive issue was the finger followers on the head wearing out, had to have the head rebuilt, new oil pipes and main bearings. That was engine out job but didn't stop the car from running. The head had done 49k miles at that point.

Only time it wouldn't start was when I got it out of storage in 2022 and the connector on the fuel pump had come loose and melted so it took ages to work out why it wouldn't start.

When the engine is hot and you park up to get petrol or for a short time, you have to leave the bonnet open so the engine can let some heat out and not cook the starter motor. It will start, but turns over very slowly if you dont.

Sometimes the passenger door won't open on the outside button and I have to open it from the inside, also sometimes on that side the window goes up while the door is open and you can't close it without putting it down a bit.

Gear stick, not the knob kept coming loose.

When I got the car the dashboard computer was derping so sometimes it would count the milage sometimes it would count backwards and then other times it would count at 3-5 times faster. Then at one point it decided the trip milage was the same as the total milage so it was saying it only done 2000 miles rather than 47000. I had to send that off to be refurbished and the correct milage put on.

Another issue the dash had before it was rebuilt was it would stay on even when the car was off and locked, that turned out to be a sticking relay and I had to turn it off by pulling a fuse out for a week or two while I worked out what the issue was and ordered the relay.

The fuel gauge broke completely last year and would read 30L when fuel even though a full tank is 53L. It would also read crazy high numbers like 200L or 180L, now I got that replaced and it does say silly numbers when I start it sometimes, but it sorts itself out within a mile or so of driving.

The original headliner sagged and fell down. That was expensive to replace and they had to take the windscreen out. They said there was a 40% chance the windscreen could break when they took it out and they are almost impossible to get, but luckily it came out OK and went back in OK too.

When its 30c + ambient and you're in traffic the engine bay temps get over 50c and even though it doesn't overheat, you can tell its not very happy running at such high intake temperatures. It normally tops out at 95-100c on the coolant in traffic when its really hot like that.

After one of the MOT's the headlights were adjusted because they were a bit high and after they were adjusted they didn't work at all on dipped beam, only the side lights worked which was ironic. So I had to go back and get them sorted.

Guy i used to work with had a pack of relays in his glove box as it was something which just burnt out every couple weeks :p
I have a box of spare relays and fuses in the glove box at all times along with the owners manual. :) when the fuel pump connector was lose it would blow that fuse every now and then.

V8 or V10? Manual or Auto? Ever since my neighbour sold his M2 and bought a V10 with a custom exhaust in black, I keep browsing ads for one.

V8 manual the slowest but probably the most fun, but also mainly purchased simply for its rarity of colour (velvet purple). I’ve just happened to really fall it, probably prefer it as a rounded package over my 360.

If you want performance get the V10 S-Tronic bonkers fast but too fast to enjoy personally.

It’s got a custom exhaust which has to be some of best money I’ve spent on a car and it’s a V8 of two natures, down low it’s very American / Aston sounding let it rev out full chat it has an almost exotic V8/V10 sound track I’ve had a lot of nice cars but I’ve never owned a car with such a well tuned exhaust with such amazing tone and giving two totally different sound tracks.

I’d have never considered an R8 years ago but now I’m older I appreciate its comfort and AWD along with such ease of use.

My dearest mother wanted another Yaris after selling the one she had because it wasn't getting used, so I found this and bought it today..

If it does more than 500 miles by this time next year I'll be amazed.

Well, that was an experience to say the least.

I did all the paperwork, paid the deposit and checked the car over as best I could without taking it to my workplace and giving it a full inspection etc, and explicitly told the salesman not to **** anything up as my parents are in their late 70's and really don't need any hassle with car problems.
Fast forward to when they went to collect it..

The aux battery was dead as a dodo, as was the car, so they were given a courtesy car to tide them over until it was sorted (as an ex car salesman this really peed me off as the one single thing you have to achieve on handover is make the bloody thing starts before collection!)
They then went back to collect their now fixed car only to find that when driven on a short journey the dash lit up like a christmas tree.
I then got involved and told them to take it over the road to the Toyota dealer to diagnose the fault which they said they'd do and apparently it was the aux battery that needed replacing, which they said they'd replace.
I also asked they they provided all paperwork from Ipswich Toyota stating the diagnosis and work carried out to cure the problem.
I even told the salesman that I'd worked as Toyota tech at that main dealer for 5 years and I'd be checking that they had (I didn't, but will Monday)
Come today, they took it out and low and behold a "Hybrid system malfunction" warning came up and scared the crap out of both of them, which isn't great as they were supposed to be driving tomorrow on holiday.
So, John Grose Ipswich (Ford main dealer) can have their car back as I'm rejecting it for a refund.
It'll be interesting to see whether they actually took it to Ipswich Toyota or just lobbed on a cheap Aux battery as a fix (I know most of the Toyota techs there, so it'll be easy to check).
Bring on the fun and games :D
