Show Us Your Motors!

This is the car I was referring to earlier as a surprise, and realised that it probably isn't really worth keeping as a surprise:

Wow thats loads better than I was expecting, I tought you'd bought yet another boring heap of diesel hatchback crap - but no, a properly decent hot hatch, excellent :)

Side view, sort of:

engine mods:
-MINI GP Intercooler
-Minimania CAI
-Milltek Catback Exhaust
-Janspeed Manifold and decat
to go on in the next couple of weeks:
- 17% KMT pulley, reduced belt and spark plugs ordered.
- Newman cam ordered
- M7 CAI purchased ready to be fitted

Everyone does black wheels on a dark silver s so I avoided those. Joey mod is to be done on the headlights, black or ds I think.

Don't I know you from somewhere? :p

It was a straight choice between that (it's a Megane RS 250 Cup), the Golf GTI R and the Focus RS. As a balance between a day-to-day car for the wife/kids and a weekend "toss it down some lanes" car for me, it was perfect.

Only problem now is the 10 week lead time to endure...

:)

Why did you pick the Megane in the end?

I currently have a Megane Coupe 2.0 16v (1996) - which I bought new - which had been a very good car for me, reliable, quick, etc. so already had a soft spot for Meganes (it was a graduation present I bought myself).

I had a look at/drive of the Focus RS, but I just didn't like the styling and the "frenetic" drive and handling - no doubt it's probably quicker in the end than the megane, but I don't want to fight a car, I want to drive it.

I also had a look at/drive of the GTI R - but the handling is pretty weak compared to both the Focus and the Megane. The cabin didn't actually feel as nice as the Megane either, and the Focus's cabin is just awful, feels very cheap and nasty.

Also, strangely, the sales staff at Ford and Volkswagen were very poor - I had to ASK for a test drive, no offer of discounts (unless I took out finance) - as soon as I said I wanted to just pay cash they more-or-less gave up, I guess they must make a tidy percentage from making finance sales.

I walked into the Renault garage hopped into an RS 250 in the showroom and a guy comes *hurtling* over with a set of keys and says "I've got a demonstrator outside, let's go". It might not be the best reason for buying a car - but a little bit of salesmanship went a long way.

Plus I think the RS 250 looks awesome.

VVTL-i just kicked in y0!

Needs a ruddy good clean but it was such a beautiful day I had to take a few snaps. Unfortunately, I don't know many scenic areas nor am I any good with a camera!

Plans are, drop on Eibach springs or Koni, Apexi power intake and TRD strut braces front and back.
Needs the springs first, they sit SO high at stock :(.
