Show Us Your Motors!

Vauxhall (up to Astra), Toyota, Skoda, VW and Seat. The ones available to me in the scheme from work (I couldn't get the Superb, nor would I have chosen it over the Passat, I was sorely disappointed with it when I went to look after having it talked up on here).

I could have taken an allowance, but it would have cost me a lot of cash to get to the level I'm at with the Passat.

hmmm... i suppose you can be excused.

:D

Does that not break your "old model for new money" rule, bearing in mind its basically the old a4?

It's a company car, and an A4 was better than a Passat? It was good enough to sit in the market alongside the current shape Passat for 3 years, whilst commanding an Audi price tag.

40 years old, and showing every year of it. Needs totally rebuilding, but I can do it, I have the technology....

lol, sorry peeps, yes it is a Reliant Scimitar GTE SE5

As for the powerplant, allegedly there were some very early GTE's fitted with the straight 6 2.5 (as fitted to the coupe version) as it was an option for the first year or so of production, although nobody seems to actually own one, know of any, or knows anybody who had one, so they are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse poop.

The vast majority came with the 3.0 essex v6, although mine will have a 3.5 Rover V8 fitted as the existing V6 is both shagged and silly heavy, and I happen to have a refurbished RV8 in the garage. There are a few converted to V8 power now, so it's nothing new.

Took a sneaky pic yesterday, still loads that needs to be done

Hope you got some savings for a gearbox rebuild when it goes bang :p

Despite what everyone says about the IB5 box, it will not take the power from that supercharger for too long. Think mine lasted around 10 months :D

I am only 16, not 17 til next May but I am itching to drive!!!

I go Ace Cafe Old Skool Ford nights every month and man would I love a Cossie.
Every month I get my urge to drive increased a bit more.

I will most probably have to settle for a 1.1 Saxo or 1.0 Corsa simply because of the insurance cost. Its ridiculous how im probably going to pay about £800 for the car and double in insurance!

Don't get an obvious my first boy racer car. Also, value of the car is a very small component of your quote, you can still write off a Bentley by driving like a knob.

I only mention those two because I have been informed they are cheap to insure.

And surely they will quote me high simply because of my age, regardless of how safe of a driver I am?

I found stuff like that hilariously expensive, I bought an Escort for my first car instead.

You will be high risk, you have no track record at all. I paid £1400 for my first year and £500 for my second, stomach the first year and come through with no claims and you'll be fine. It's one of those things.

Wow, people I know were still paying £1700 on their second year.

And I am restricted to getting a 1100cc engine by my Dad :/

Obviously I have loads of time left to explore and havent made any decisions so thanks for the information :)
