Is the acceleration quite good? also what is the insurance like for it?

Acceleration feels great to me, but ive only been driving my bros 1.5 almera. I think it's quoted as 0-60 in 10.5 but it feels quicker, overtook some chavs in a corsa yesterday coming off a roundabout without really trying.
Insured with admiral
22 0ncb, mum as named driver, £690 comprehensive, which i think is pretty good.

Thats a pretty nice first car mate. I used to have a Corsa, lol and even a Ford KA could take one of those out, easily.

Not a bad price either for insurance, and fully comp at that, I've decided to wait to go fully comp till I'm 25 (24 now and 25 in November, so not long to wait)

Nice first car Nicksy. Looks good in that blue.

Nice first car. The colour is called Jazz Blue Pearlescent. My Bora was the same colour - looks stunning when it's clean. The 1.6 is only a smidgeon slower than the 2.0 (so called) GTI. VAG figure the cars with a "typical" load in them (ie two burly blokes, half a tank of fuel and some luggage) so the numbers are conservative. The engines need some miles on them to loosen up fully - about 20k on mine.

Nice car for a first ride Nicksy :) What plate is it on?

My dad had a 1.6SE on a V plate and it had the old 1.6 engine in, drank fuel like you wouldn't know  They did a new version of the engine after that, can't remember what year though.

Yup, bang on; 1.8 16v.

It cost me £1200 inc the standard alloys (which I took off and kept in storage as they're fairly rare) it came with lots of service history and was practicaly standard apart from being lowered. Also the bodywork is in good condition for the age. Few little rusts spots but it's not rotten.

If you do buy one deffo get one with service history, you'll want to know what your car has been upto for the last 9-14 years :)

Thanks for the heads up about the service history.

How much is your insurance? What group are the 1.8 16v?

Is it easy on petrol? Done any mods to your car?

Thanks :)

How much did it set you back if you dont mind me asking?

Very good car for your first one. Looking to buy my self a car very soon as my first one.

Don't mind at all. It cost me £4,500. Bit pricey but as we know all golfs hold there value and rare to find one with lowish mileage. Especially as it's a T reg.
Lucky for me when it comes to money i'm a saveaholic.

Very nice ride Rotty, someone has been doing well for them selfs. I would turn that double garage into a snooker room though and let the M3 get wet outside when it rains lol :p

How old is it ? 02/52?

Insurance is £980 TPFT 10 months bonus accelerator and that's with the alloy wheels declared and I'm 19, 0Ncb and 1 accident, although Admiral would have cost me only £727 for the same policy so bit gutted about that.

They're group 12 on insurance fyi.

Petrol isn't too bad really. Can get 30-35Mpg of town and lane driving and that's short journeys too, so yeah not painfuly low.

So far I've de-catted it and replaced the filter for an ITG filter in the standard airbox. Revs more freely and is a little louder.

It's a 2003 on a 52 plate though it only has 18k miles on

Not my garage unfortunately, the pic was took at the place where I bought it , I only have a single garage and that is full of junk so it does have to live outside :D
