Not servers and networking but they are racks.

I had to liberate it from its old location and transport it down two floors and across half the building. (without the use of a lift)

Rebuilt it in an office temporarily to work with another rack that was already semi constructed there. They work together to allow the transferring of various media to digibeta or DVD, with or without burnt-in timecode. This was about half way through construction so they aren't fully cabled and there are a few items missing. These are due to be moved to another site some time next month which means stripping the equipment back out once its all been fully tested.

I'll have a look next week at getting some shots of the other racks in work as there are quite a few distributed all over the place. Didn't have the camera with me when i was in the main server room so couldn't get a snap of that, though it's not as impressive as some of the shots in this thread.

Think I had to be in rommon mode for that. All I got was the switch: prompt and had these options.

Code:
switch: ?
? -- Present list of available commands
boot -- Load and boot an executable image
         cat -- Concatenate (type) file(s)
        copy -- Copy a file
      delete -- Delete file(s)
dir -- List files in directories
  flash_init -- Initialize flash filesystem(s)
      format -- Format a filesystem
        fsck -- Check filesystem consistency
help -- Present list of available commands
load_helper -- Load and initialize a helper image
memory -- Present memory heap utilization information
       mkdir -- Create dir(s)
        more -- Concatenate (display) file(s)
      rename -- Rename a file
       reset -- Reset the system
       rmdir -- Delete empty dir(s)
set -- Set or display environment variables
set_param -- Set system parameters in flash
sleep -- Pause (sleep) for a specified number of seconds
trap -- Cause a software breakpoint to occur
 -- MORE --
        type -- Concatenate (type) file(s)
unset -- Unset one or more environment variables
version -- Display boot loader version

You could try and increase your baud rate to a higher bit rate.

The 2950 uses around 350watts when loaded and about 200 when idle, not sure about the 1950 as it doesn't give me any power monitoring stats but It would be less as it has less hardware in it.

I have no idea how much the switches use I'm afraid. With all that lot and my computer, 7 screens, 2 power amps and 2 powered speakers I use around 1.2-1.4kW

If you're from the UK I don't envy your leccy bill

Edit: £100 a month?

Heres my little home set up with a 12U rack, I have set up the 3rd small bedroom of my house into a little office/man cave for myself, I installed network ports around the house and all come back up to this room.

There are a couple of before pics when it was sat on the shelf and a heap of mess and then a pic of it neated up with 1 of my 2 HP Microservers and a new UPS.

Kit wise I have an APC network controlled power switch, Virgin 50mb Broadband modem, Netgear Prosafe VPN Router, Dlink gigabit switch, 1 Microserver is for a NAS, the other backup and the huuuuuge Xigamax case houses my SR2 VMware ESXi server with 2 x hex core Xeons @ 4.2ghz, 24 threads of watercooled goodness :)

I want an access server, hmmm...

All done now, just waiting on my PDU with a switch (I bought one but item wasn't as described as there was no power switch)

How much did you pay for that rack from Australia oli? Was it worth it?
Austria*

Came to like £130, so a lot. And I had to wait for missing parts (casters) to arrive and then one of the bits of metal to be resent because it was 'faulty'. So it was quite frustrating!

So not exactly cheap but I like it.
Worth the money? I would say so yeah but it all depends what the money means to you :) Like it cost as much as half of my lab probably!

Still waiting to see how much it will be when the UK retailers start to sell it.

Hi folks,

I was talking before about a new IT system that was coming where I work (Can't say where). I had to remove some pictures as they had branding and names on them but anyway.....

Netapp, each disk is 300GB.

Got a couple of porno's for you.

Been meaning to post for some time now. Here are some old unbranded of our various sites, will try to get some more next time I'm on-site. Much of the equipment is set to be upgraded or virtualised.
