and if something set fire down by your carpet it wouldn't spread much or anywhere if you had cheapo synthetic carpet.

Are you sure about that? If a fire breaks out in your house, it's gonna spread regardless.

If it makes you feel 'safer' then go for it, personally I don't think it would make a blind bit of difference.

proberly not but if you was in the room at the time , you have a better chance of putting the fire out on the floor , than curtains that move around spreading the fire upwards to the ceiling

I'll agree with you there, but hopefully if you were in the room at the time you would notice the impending electrical failure (burning wires, smell, smoke etc.?) before a fire actually broke out.

If you were elsewhere, I think ultimately the same amount of damage would occur :)

Are there pyromaniac curtains going around setting peoples house's on fire?! We should tell some one who is an authoritative figure. People need to know, we can't just keep this between us.

On a serious note my dad was a fireman for 23 years. Main part of his job was safety checking buildings. His stance is that you shouldn't have faulty electrics to start with. Most products these days are very well made to high standards. To the extent that a lot of multi plug manufactures say they will give tens of thousands if their product fails.

If you were worried about an electric fire next to a curtain I'd understand your concern. Did you know that other objects on your windowsill are more likely to set you house on fire. For example glass figurines or objects. Some ones house was set alight by a glass orb.The sun was shining through it just right and its power magnified onto the curtains.

Well here's my setup had a little tidy up and dust before taking the photo's:D

Sorry about the lamp on the left it was the wife's idea!
