Shrinking Chocolate

nope I wasn't (early 90's)

the portions were larger they actually made you feel sick if you ate a whole one, then the choc makers got greedy

Nope, cocoa is expensive and that is a way to cut costs.

"Cadbury Dairy Milk was reformulated in 2006 and again in 2009, with the addition of palm oil as a replacement for some cocoa butter. In August 2009, Cadbury announced it would return to using cocoa butter instead of palm oil as the formula due to a poor response from consumers."

What has reductions got to with an entirely different thing?

You claimed that the difference in product weight was down to a decrease in cocoa and dairy, specifically, whilst sugar and other ingredients remained the same or even increased in value. Did you have any source for this or was it just an uneducated guess? The quote I posted explains that cocoa butter was substituted for palm oil, not more sugar, and was subsequently changed back after complaints about taste. Fairly easy to comprehend I mistakenly thought.

Creme eggs in the UK have always been 39g, they've never changed. I believe they reduced the size in the USA and Canada some years ago but ours haven't changed size.

No, you're not getting what I'm saying at all. The chocolate being less in size comparatively means they are using less ingredients in making it. It's a pretty simple concept.

its what they put in them, more sugar these days.

It the crap we eat today not a daily choc bar.

A lot of kids do not know what a home cooked meal is, its Mc D's or Chinese/kebabs/Indian all of which are not even proper Chinese or Indian meals but made for UK market or even poor ready meals.

Also a lot of kids are less active added to they have more money to spend.

Well no. How much raw ingredients they feed into their production line is based on demand and supply potential of their final products, not how big their bars physically are. Your idea may have more weight at an independent confectioners, however Mars is a massive demand and supply operation, they don't use less ingredients simply because they have a smaller bar - as in if they are actually selling more of the smaller bars then there is no difference.
