I have a Seagate 8tb external USB C.attached to my Mac mini, it is in a sealed enclosure and the Mac cannot provide enough power to it, I get the error message “hdd not ejected properly “ on waking from sleep.

I need to remove the hdd and place it in a powered enclosure, the Seagate has no visible screws, how do I get the hdd out, do have to get my hammer to it, or is there an easier way to?

If you can't see anything it's most likely to be internal plastic clips, it'll need a prying tool/spudger to go between the joins and pop the case open.

+1
Use chat GPT to see if it can give you any clues how to open it up. If you're not too fused about the enclosure you can be a bit more adventurous.

I've never looked into it but unless you want to take the HDD out of the enclosure you should be able to get a splitter cable which will allow you to separately provide power to the drive and data to the Mac.

(Obviously this may prevent the drive powering down for sleep, etc.).

I think it is a tamper proof case. I’ve seen the utube videos where the top comes off entirely, this enclosure, the top one third comes off leaving the HDD locked in the case.

It looks like hammer time.

I'm interesting to know which enclosure this is as I don't think I've seen any tamper proof ones before (although my experience is limited).

Success…. HDD now installed in a ugreen enclosure and working well.

Can someone remind me how to upload photos from my iPhone

Considering the OP said that it has a type C connection, a splitter cable wouldn't help since there most likely would have been a power delivery chip on the board between the external connection and the hard drive itself that should have been negotiating proper power requirements with the hardware it was connected to meaning there was either a problem with the cable being used or the PD chip had failed, and if it was the latter then moving the drive to another enclosure would be the only option to get the drive working properly.

Depending on generation/model the USB C ports on the Mac Mini only deliver around 6 watt and a limited voltage spec (or 15 watt for the TB3 supporting ones) - the Seagate 8TB USB-C enclosures require 15-36 watt depending on model and usually need additional voltages the Mac Mini doesn't provide (though usually they have an additional power input). You can get USB C splitters which will pass through the data connection but separately provide power which can work in these scenarios depending a bit on the exact USB C negotiation used and configuration/capabilities of the cable.

You need to host them somewhere on the internet then insert the URL into your post using the button to the right of the smiley.
I use a dedicated folder on my web site for this which makes life easy but there are plenty of hosting sites.

Use imgbox to host the pics and insert the BBcode it generates. (some hosting sites do not work in the UK or the images dissapear after a short time)

Never used a mac system, but should imagine it wont make a difference.

Too difficult. I'll just explane what happened:

1. Disassembly of the enclosure was difficult, what I thought was a plastic case was in fact metal.
2. The HDD was held in a frame which was in turn was locked by 4 rubber feet extending from the bottom of the case into the frame.
3. I needn't have destroyed the enclosure, but it's no great loss.
4. The HDD inside was SkyHawk, which was a pleasant surprise as its used as my main backup, and source for copying to. my NAS.

The enclosure itself was very well put together. Pity my Mac mini couldn't power it.
