The premise:

It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope?
Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate!
Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?

A few people on this forum would be rather annoyed to say the least if I shut down all of my computers...

Well yeah, of course I can survive without my PC for a day, I've got the pub. The question is do I want to and perhaps more importantly will my bank balance and liver forgive me. ;)

Why would I want to go without a computer? I need it for my job, staying in contact with people and from time to time I use it for enertainment.

Yes, I could survive without my computer but why would I want to?

Ah well end of the day if you don't want to do it, don't :)

Yep no problem, well saying that only my home PC lol its been off for a few days doing something to the watercooling but ive been to lazy to sort it and put it back together, but im using the work computer lol but that cant be avoided lol but i think people must have a real problem if they cant keep away lol, i dont get any withdrawals on weekend if im out or on holiday etc lol

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people doing it as thats their decision.

Just seems strange that a website is campaigning to stop people from using their computers. Can't see that any good will come out of it personally.

I can't see what this is meant to prove, other than forgone conclusion of "yes, we are reliant on it as a business and social tool" ?

That falls pretty nicely, going on holiday from 23rd to 30th.. my PC will be shutdown all week.

If it was.. tomorrow.. then that would be a no go, i need to get work done and it would compromise that severely.

Pretty stupid experiment really. =/

On personal PCs yes, although if business's participated too (especially the one I worked for :p ) think it would be a great idea to force them to not be so relient! :D
