***Shuttle SP35P2 Review***

Personally I found the build quality to be crap, mainly let down by the front facia. The drive cover is poorly designed and the flip-down cover for the IO ports feels cheap.
Just my opinion of course, still can't beat the G series chassis (apart from dual slot gfx wont fit).

Arrgggh, I swore I would never buy a shuttle again after my hassle with my current SN95G5 Rev 2... but now I am tempted...

You say it's pretty quiet and cool?

Hmmmm

Have you got any temp readings under load? (Unless I missed them).

Also, is there enough room in there to fit a pci sound card whilst the GTS is in there?

Anyone know if a 8800GTX fits in one of these?

Tempted :p Looking for a new system to upgrade my three year old SN85G4V2.

EDIT: Just read:

1x PCI-Express x16 Steckplatz
Supports Dual-slot (double-width) graphics cards

but what about the length of a GTX?

Yep, they fit, but only just, there is about an inch of play from the shell of the case to the back of the card on the GTX.

Pic taken from a guy at another forum, its not mine.

Not for the GFX card no, but under load the CPU goes to about 55 degrees tops, thats based on a good session on crysis, and a 32M run of superpi.

Now thats put a spanner in the works - I was convinced about a new pc based on IP35-Pro, but I just like the smallness of these things....

What to do.....

I use a Creative XMod (USB soundcard) instead of the onboard sound, with my other Shuttle and that is pretty good

I just bought one so I could build up a new machine for my Girlfriend. I found the shuttle well made and everything fitted in very easily, didnt need a higher spec graphics card as that would never get used for games

This is my first venture with SFF and very impressed so far, just need to see how well it operates .

Machine spec:-

Shuttle XPC SP35P2 Pro

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz SLI-Ready Edition

Point of View GeForce 8600 GTS "Ratatouille Edition" 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI/HDMI

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition DVD

LG GSA-H55LBRL 20x DVD±RW IDE Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter

Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

friendly word mate, your RAM defaults to 1.8 volts, adn an auto optimize doesnt change this, so you may need to up the juice on the RAM manually. I had loads of stability bother as I overlooked that simple fact.

I havent had time to fully test the setup , since it's a christmas present and I have to quickly assemble everything and wrap it before my Girlfriend got home. I can see this being a fun filled christmas day trying to get it up , running and stable.

I am a bit warying of messing with DDR voltages on P35 chipsets since I had problem on a P35-DQ6 locking up and also corrupting the bios when trying to set the voltage for running Geil Black Dragon 1066.

I use to have a 8800gtx in my shuttle...But i would highly not recommend it due to causing far to much heat..
I had to leave my shuttle cover off and have a 120mm fan blowing air at it to keep the temps down..
