Sick of waiting for NVidia refresh...

I do wonder what people think they are going to achieve coming on to a PC enthusiasts forum to talk about how great consiles are and how all PC games are just console ports anyway. Like we are all going to nod sagely and agree with their undenied wisdom and beauty.

Like as if miners are the only ones buying GPU's and gamers simply don't exist anymore. Yeah right.

I am not convinced that NVIDIA will release new hardware when it's going to be largely unaffordable for people. Can't really think of much more depressing news than a new series 80 hitting the streets at £1000. I am thinking they may well hang on to Q4 when by their own estimates GPU prices should be falling.

Truth hurts, right? ;)

Still, even if one is playing at 60/120/144fps max settings, the games on PC are more or less a joke. Glorified console ports. PC Master Race, what a joke. So many go on like todays PC games are some sort of new groundbreaking universe. They’re not.

Even the history Quake has had, the current game is developed from a console engine that is buggy as hell. What does that say for the so called PC Master Race, eh? Most games are so sloppy now it’s unbelievable.

You are partially correct - some of the latest console game ports are pony. However, games like Starcraft 2 and Squad are still incredible. Then you have the whole modding scene (graphics and otherwise)

Looking at fps games on console after 3440 x 1440 @ 100fps look (and play) terrible. Of course, consoles are cheaper, more social and relaxing playing usually on a sofa.
PC 'master race' is all about joining multiple people online for huge rts battles and competitions - think Starcraft which is classed as a national sport in Korea! Playing fps & sim games in teams online where you need to actually work together or you get nowhere or play with high levels of realism - Arma series. I'm sure there are more examples

I'm sick of waiting as well, but unfortunately I'm with the majority of pc players who find 30fps unplayable, so gaming on consoles exclusively is not an option.

It's enough of a punishment to suffer through console exclusives at those horrible frames. [sadly theres some really lovely games like H:ZD and the upcoming RDR2] But there's no way i could put up with multiplats on consoles as well, or I might as well poke my eyes out in advance, than look at that unresponsive blur and damage eyesight at very young age very fast.

Oh, and you'll be playing games at a cinematic 24 fps. :p:D
Why do you keep saying this?

Over and over you keep saying that PS4/XOne can't do >30 FPS.

It's utter crap, and I'm sure I'm not the only one tired of you saying it.

Another one.

For the love of Pete.

Both consoles can do >30 FPS. Sheesh.

The Xbox is absolutely redundant for a PC gamer imo.

I recently went with a PS4 due to the same reasoning, According to Microsoft we can expect to get future X-box games via the Windows store, It'll be interesting to see whether they keep to that now the One X is out but I bought accordingly. I've never played a Halo game and I'm hoping we start to see them on PC too,

In the Last of us Remastered settings I was given the choice of 4k @ 30 fps or an 1800 res @ 60 fps. I obviously opted for the 1800 res and it runs great, That's while using a keyboard and mouse as well.
I'll never stop PC Gaming but for as long as I can get good results at a fraction of the price I'll lean towards the console for now.

For a laugh i thought I'd google ps4 pro framerate comparisons and got greeted with several pages of 30fps videos... the first one that was higher had a ps4 pro "framerate" mode game running... at 39fps. Wow, colour me impressed, totally sways me from 144hz playing.

You guys are so right, there's absolutely no tangible benefit to owning a PC.

Aye, bought a PS4 last year to see what all the fuss was about, my first console for 10 years. Sent it back and got a refund. Hated it. Consoles just aren't an option for many.

There is plenty of games that run 1080/60fps.

At 1080p...

Yea at 1080p but lets be honest you get a full system at £300 which won't even buy you a card these days capable of doing 60fps at any higher. Console gaming is a bargain compared to PC gaming and gives a good experience for that money. I see benefits to gaming on both platforms but PC for me is to expensive for an experience that's not miles better like it used to be. I will still be gaming on both but i can see why PC gamers might be swayed back to console due to the pricing of a good gaming PC these days.

I still don't understand why people knock 1080p.....

My 1080p 55" oled screen blows away any 4k display in terms of iq.

The difference between 4k and 1080p is very much game dependant too, some games it is noticeable, others much less so and the benefit of a higher ppi is even less when you are sitting further back from the display, having switched between 4k and 1080p in a good variety of games now, the FPS hit is not worth the slight increase in sharpness/clarity.

As for FPS, I can tolerate 30fps (playing on an oled screen + using a controller makes the experience much nicer) but I would much rather have 60fps.

60 FPS at 1080p > 30 FPS at 4k

I can see why yes, but in the face of sales figures it obviously isnt a majority. Console gaming simply isnt an option for a lot of people.

"Not miles better" is highly subjective and not something i agree with at all.

60 FPS at 1080p > 30 FPS at 4k

Lots of people dont game on their TV.

Nobody ever said there was no benefit to owning a PC.

Also nobody ever said that a console offers the best experience, when money is unlimited.

Glad we could clear that up.

Which is fine. Everybody is entitled to an opion and to like what they like.

Just don't throw around lies like "consoles can't ever do >30FPS, lol".

At 1080p... i havent owned a low res monitor for what, 10 years?

Edit: i checked, sorryi moved up from 1080p 8 years ago, so a slight exageration, even then i couldnt go back to 60fps either

If you are considering a console over a GFX upgrade, you probably don't have cash to throw at:

* A 4k monitor

* A 1080 ti

* A new Ferrari

This may be why you "don't understand 1080p peasants"... you probably have more money than sense ability to empathise with others.

Consoles, meh. There's no room for a custom loop for a start.

I'm looking to move upwards to 3440*1440 @ 200fps, HDR, Gsync; all the goodness that new tech has to offer.

All this bragging about 1080p 60Hz should be a banning offence in the GPU section. :mad:
