Sid Meier is back with a new Alpha Centauri (1999), one of the greatest sci-fi turn based strategy games I've ever played. Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth as it's titled, will not be a simple remake of Alpha Centauri but rather a "what would happen after Civilization V" (according to the devs).

Just done a quick update to the article!

There will be orbital devices.

Goals:
- Find proof of existence of an ancient life on the planet and try to make a first contact,
- Resume contact with Earth by deploying a satellite,
- Return to Earth (if you find out it still exists),
- Host Terran refugee on your new planet.

Makes me feel better that it was posted on the 12th and not 1st! Had my heart pounding for a second there haha

I love civ, but i would have liked to see (and i have mentioned this on their forums) a Dodecahedron style grid game that continues from the primitive hex grid (applied in primitive times) and forms space above for space warfare/trade etc. That would be a true civ v evolution. control of satellites in orbit to destroy or create!

I wish neil would stop hiding links linking to his site all the time.

About the news, interesting but im not much into the modern gfx style of civ 5 engine which this is gona be using i think.

I have no choice as I've said many times before, type in the url and see what happens.

EDIT : This was because I used to link to my articles, when the news was then linked from another source. Instead of just linking directly to say bluesnews or any other gaming site. 98% of the time now I write my own articles for developers and my own views. Advertising my website when it wasn't even my own news source was a big no no. So I wont go down that route again!
