Sig sizes ?

Yes as there's no conflict of interest, you're not gaining anything financially from it, and it's just information and a little about you. It's no different to posting a link to a blog, facebook or photography etc... If you were pointing to a business, then clearly that's not allowed.

I'm perfectly happy with the sig rules here, and yeah I get what people mean about seeing other forums where their sigs are literally half the page :(.

My one comment would however be that the 20KB limit is perhaps a little bit stingy, and that I find what slows the forums down more is people with sigs/images on slow rubbish hosts rather than those with a larger size file but on a decent quick host.

I prefer a nice small signature, I would disable them if custom avatars were allowed. But I use signatures to identify people as they're right below what people are saying.

20kb is not a problem, never had a problem making a 400x75 image < 20Kb, sometimes it's hard to fit what you want in such a wide format but I get around it.

I think its perfectly fine the way it is, if you cant get a 400x75px image to under 20kb then you're doing something wrong.

Personally I don't look at peoples user names when reading a thread, I look at their sig as a quick way of identifying who is making a post. I don't particularly want people to have massive sig, its completely unnecessary!

Some forums are pretty much unreadable with the ridiculous sigs and avatars they have.

Yeah, I hate ones which have no limits and a sig can be half a page of text and large images 1MB big each. Just looks awful and is hard to read.

You can turn off sigs and avatars in the CP so it shouldn't be an issue for anyone, people with slow connections can just disable them.

Because it's nice to actually have sigs so you can pick out specific posters/your own easily.

Well my sigs been deleted again. "Please read FAQ for information on signature sizes".

Well, Ok then:

400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text.

My image was 173x75 with a maximum combined file size of 12kb.

I dont get it, im not breaking any rules so why the hell are you (mr anonymous mod) removing them ?

Edit, now I see. I save it as 10KB and it saves it as 25. GRRR

Above image is 26.19KB.

20KB is more than large enough. Most folk that have a 20K could reduce the file size to 10K with out any problems. I don't want to download a megabyte everytime I view a forum page, even if I am on a fast connection.

The strong sig rules here are good, as mentioned some forums have no rules and it makes reading them really difficult. I only have a 1024x768 screen, and on some of these places folks sig take up my hole screen.
